Is the 20A then for those big Truck battery's (180Ah) ?

I see there's a guy selling 180Ah battery's (renew'ed) Thats basically Golden Arrow's old battery's.

Oh. Yes I also wanted the 1200 .. was out of stock then already (week ago). So I just bought the bigger one. Lots more expensive because you need an extra battery too.

I bought the 1200 but am going to return it for a 2400.

I was there yesterday too. They said they will only have stock of 2400's on the 7/06

I want a 1200 to power my electric fence, elec gate and 2x garage doors to surge protect them and to keep the fence on full shock power during load shedding. Just struggling to pull that R3k trigger :-/

Thats a very good idea. how would you do that?

Dont worry, applied some grey matter and worked it out

I have a Tedelex 2400 inverter in the house for tv, pc's etc...

In the garage (seperate from my house) I would stand the Mecer 1200 and plug the electric fence, energiser, gate motor plug and 2x garage door motors into it. I lost a power supply in my Centurion D5 motor a month ago. Repairer says he is spending most of his days replacing batteries and power supplies. My electric fence energiser goes into a power saving mode during load shedding - I want full strength 24/7 especially during night time load shedding.

I reckon 3 grand for the inverter beats having to do future repairs and replacements on the power supplies and batteries in those 4 things. I already spent R600 on the new power supply with a call out :(

I have the Mecer 12v and now have another battery. Both the same 102AH Energizer. Can they be wired separately direct to the inverter or must the new 2nd battery be wired to the first battery and then a single set of wires to the inverter ?
The lable on the inverter says 10A max ? Can I, should I, move the switch to 20A when both batteries are connected in parallel to give me a longer run time?

Putting them in series will create a 24V battery setup which your inverter will not like. Read: BOOM!

You need to put them in parallel to keep the system 12V and increase the runtime from increased amp hours.

On the 1200 with two batteries, you must connect the batteries in parallel, ie, positive to positive and negative to negative. This with maintain 12v but double your aH to 204aH.
Connect the positive cable from the Mecer to the positive post of the one battery. Connect the negative cable from the Mecer to the negative post of the OTHER battery.

Keeps the AMP setting at 10 amps.

Cheers

Okay. received my goodies. And all hooked up (was fairly easy) From Geewiz it's basically just a lead pluggin from one battery into the other.. and then pluggin the mecer 2400va into the wall.. and then hooking up your goodies to the mecer2400va.

Question. once it goes onto backup power. Must the unit make such a buzzing noise ?

While charging the fan is quite loud as previous users said. But once it cuts over to backup power. Must it make that buzzing sound.

when going onto backup power (it makes a buzz or bzzzzing sound).

Almost like electrical hair clippers (or electric shaver sound)

Most inverters will do this, it is completely normal :)

And no, it isn't a sign of bad quality or a problem, or anything like that. The buzzing is the transformers used in the boost stage.

Even super expensive pure sine wave inverters will make some buzzing (even if they use super expensive toroidal transformers which would make it less audible)

hmm every time I tested mine, my home theater was loud enough to wake up the neighbours dog three blocks down the road :p
But will test it with everything quiet and see (or rather hear).

it's not uber loud.. but if i'm 1meter away from it. It does sound like an electrical shaver.

Not the end of the world. I just wanted to know if thats normal.. As my 600va PC ups never makes that noise..

Also i have changed it to the charger to 10A charging (at the back of the Mecer 2400va). It has a slight humm to it.. When charging on 10A.

Changing it to 20A (there's no humm while it charges the battery).

I had a user or two on Mybb, saying best option is to set it to 10A (for a 2x 105Ah Setup)
