Yes. Someone please clarify 10a or 20a for a 24v series (2battery) setup.
Common sense tells me 20a is better for these large heavy duty deep cycle batteries?

It depends on your battery specs. I would keep it on 20 amps. Not too slow or too fast. Best of both worlds.

and Koprite, Tron and dunkyd . You guys also get the buzzing noise (or humming) . ? When the mecer switches to backup power (running from the batterys)

its not very loud but i can hear it from 1meter away. ?

My mecer 2400va was set to 20A (by default). Geewiz sold me this solution and everything was basically made as plug and play.

I had the 1200va and it also buzzed. Sold it to a friend. It's a Mecer product, what do you expect.

Sigh..The guy that owns the business here wants to do what I have done with my little setup..
Sees all is good and want's to buy the batteries I have and all....I said wait..my testing is not over yet. Absolutely thrashed my Ritar 65 Ah SLA for around 20 or so cycles...and then another 40 to normal 20 to 30% DOD...

Good charger of course too. Batteries are strange expensive things.

Charger and battery/s must cuddle each other....some SLA have a 10 Yr lifespan with the correct charger mate :)

i gots the 2x 105AH Energizer Deep cycles. Think 20A will charge quicker but.. 10A might be safer.

The best is to charge at 10A whether you have a 12 or 24v system or 100 or 200amp. The 10 amp will be a slower charge but a slower charge will result in your batteries lasting longer over time with correct maintenance.

If you going to have to to use the inverter with short charge and usage intervals in between to recharge the batteries to full potential, then move it to 20amp to ensure you have enough charge for the next usage.

No buzzing but the fan stays on charging or on battery...

I agree with this. Batteries prefer a trickle charge to a harsh charge - extends their life and ultimate charge/discharge cycles.

With load shedding mostly once per day, 10A setting will have the batteries fully charged by the next day's shed slot.

Thanks. Think I'll leave mine on 10.
Having no Bold and the Incentious is not the end of the world as we know it.
However, planning full charge status for rugby is just common sense....:D

No stock anywhere on the Mecer 2400 inverters. And I emailed a lot of places. ETA 5 - 10 June.

mecer is noisy as hell (i thought it would make some noise) but no one said it's so loud that you can hear it from 10meters away.

I mean the fan is like one of those 220volt server fans.. running 24/7. (it's like opening up your computer box and that fan's noise must be 4-5 times louder than that)

Plan B chaps: stick it in the furthest corner of your abode and run twin and earth to where you need backup power.

That's what I did with my Tedelex Intellipower.

i'm going to get a nice cabinet. that has doors that can shut. Solong as there is sufficient air inside for airflow.

Then i'm going to insulate the inside (just put some padding on the inside so that it doesn't let alot of the sound to the outside of the cabinet)

This is another option...
I've just taken delivery of the ME-3000 WTU, that i bought for 5300.
its a pure sine wave ups, with 6x12v 9ah batteries. And the purpose of it is simply to power my LED tv + 1 light.

I've got it plugged in now to charge. Why did i choose this option?
Its sine wave and its all in 1 box, and there are as few wires as possible so my kids are less likely to #@% with it. And it sits on my bookshelf at the bottom where there is air and its out of the way.

Its currently charging.... So I'll test it out later this eve.

Fruitbat. (please let me know if that system works out for you)

54ah seems to be a bit low to run an LED TV and a light (which should be around 100-150watts +-)

Also calculating that you don't want to use more than 50% capacity of your battery's at any given time {Using more than 50% is not good for your batterys. they won't last long}

You basically going to run them for the full 2hours to 2.5hours loadshedding time. Let me know how it goes. or test it out and give us some feedback.

You can start a business selling these cabinets :)
