Every few days my Mecer inverter sounds a loud alarm and then the red lights stays on untill I plug it in and out, the its normal again. Any advice as what could be the problem?

Does the alarm start sounding while you are at home or do you come home to it making the alarm noise?

Reason I ask is that I caught my domestic plugging the vacuum cleaner into mine and only realised after the second time I got home to it in alarm mode.

Vacuum cleaner... yoh !! that's dangerous. But at least you know she is trying to clean :p

@grim - never had that problem

Got myself the 1200 model with a 105AH battery. I'm considering adding another 105AH battery.
So has nobody come up with a solution for the noisy fan? To make it much quieter somehow. Is it an AC or DC fan? Someone mentioned they replaced the fan with a pc fan earlier in the thread, but it was also mentioned elsewhere in this thread that it's an AC fan?

I tried to replace it with a PC fan. The fan was running, but the unit panicked, probably because it was not running at the right speed.

You can see the spec of the fan on the back of the unit, there is a sticker on the fan.

I am test running my Mecer 1200va right now,the fan is no problem as it only runs loud when on 20a charging. What is the lowest voltage to save the battery? After 2 hours I am down to 11.5 volts.80% of 12v = 9.6 ?What should the charge amperage be 10a or 20a

Edit:100AH battery. The load is only on 2 bars..350watt?
Thanks

Read somewhere that it should be 10a for 100ah battery setup. Got mine on 10a. I think they recommend 10%.

But maybe some experts here can confirm.

What load did you run ? I did 160watt last night and after 2 hours my battery monitor said in the 11v region too ! But I think the monitor is not correct when the system is under load. I want to test it properly this weekend still. i.e. run it from full capacity with about 220watt for an hour, then switch off the unit and check what voltage the batteries are at.

BTW: I have this one connected to the batteries.

I just used a multimeter at the back of the inverter to read the voltage.Don't understand those bars on the front panel yet but my load was 2 bars but when I switched on a second tv it went to 3 bars. When I unplugged the mains, the batt voltage was on 4 bars but straight away went down to 3..maybe batt wasn't full??

Guessing 300-350 watt as the lcd tv is 250watt

Edit:My wife thinks I'm planning a rocket launch with all the activity...

For those that really want to see Mil Specs...prices are crazy...quality too:

Read the whole PDF and then you will understand who wrote the handbook/guide.
And the care that needs to be given....around 8000 Cycles @ 10% DOD...

Chinese always copy. Enough.

Yikes, your LCD must be old.. hehe.. I'm running 48" LED TV, PVR decoder, 5.1 Amp and they add up to 156 watt.

Add HTPC (which is a full pc) 70watts when watching a movie and 10watt LED flood light for outside, all under 250.

But yes I do not understand those bars on the inverter either, that's why I bought that battery monitor.

Yip it's a 5 yr old hisense 40" but the 2nd tv is a 40" LG Led.....will look for battery monitor to be safe.

Reason for the jump to 4 bars is probably just the startup surge created by the TV. I also noticed it when I started up my pc. It quickly settles to its actually running level again.

One amazing thing which I want to test further is that my fan stopped completely after charging for 2 hours while the inverter was in online mode but with mains present. This is such a relief. I just hope it continues to operate like this as I find the fan noise annoying when it runs.

I had a 7 year old Sony Bravia 2 40" TV that I sold. It was running at 224watt and that is not friendly on my inverter. Will be a new LED version soon which, at the same size, I see usually run at 70watt. Far far better to be inverter friendly.
