No, it is extremely relevant. The name was changed from Jan Smuts to Johannesburg International, and the reason for the change was given by the government to be: Airports and the like should not bear the names of politicians, but rather the name of its geographical locality. Clearly we as a South African population were lied to.

Good point kingmonty, if this is the case then Government should be taken to task as to why they have changed the policy, arguing around the name OR Tambo is not only pointless ( as he is a great man ) it only serves to raise emotions.

Do not get me wrong, I still believe Tambo's name should be remembered and his life honoured, but if this was a stated policy, we can't have a govt going back and forth on it's word

Nowadays you can even have websites dedicated to people. Not that the masses will be able to afford the internet, but it will be a step in the process of making people aware of Oliver Tambo's life and what he did.

But both exist by the will of the voters. The DA is the official opposition, since it gets the second most votes.

Just a shame they dont listen to the people of the country, our domestic is from Khutsong and she told me today they are still unhappy about their incorporation into the north west province.
