ANGELO.....

Ur Sig reads as follows:

We systematically dehumanise & hold back the majority for years and then expect a stable, civilised society to come out of thin air the moment democracy arrives

Thank You for telling it like it is....one problem though.....we never expected a stable, civilised society after we saw who was put into key positions straight after the 1994 elections.

We all of a sudden had ministers with no proper schooling and some of them even swopped positions....how the hell can you swop from being the minister of health to the minister of Finance???

Please bud, take ur worthless comments elsewhere because you my friend are brainwashed by the ANC.

Passive acceptance of the teacher's wisdom is easy to most boys and girls. It involves no effort of independent thought, and seems rational because the teacher knows more than his pupils; it is moreover the way to win the favour of the teacher unless he is a very exceptional man. Yet the habit of passive acceptance is a disastrous one in later life. It causes man to seek and to accept a leader, and to accept as a leader or whoever is established in that position.

Affirmative sig-making = "We systematically dehumanise & hold back the majority for years and then expect a stable, civilised society to come out of thin air the moment democracy arrives" (ignacio's quote)

Hell, I even remember a time where the Rand was equal to the Pound and even better that the Dollar. The Exchange Rate basically shows how well the Goverment is running the country and trust me R7.23/$ and R14.00/Pound doesn't reflect what you are saying regarding "they are the best goverment"
Bullsh*t. Exchange controls were one of the things that crippled this country economically during the eighties. All it does is show an artificially strong currency while domestic inflation is allowed to run rampant.

Now I would have to rack my memory a bit?

Wasn't One Pound worth 2 Rand?
And the Rand was $1.25US?
Early to Mid 70's?

Yes. The government at the time had implemented strict exchange controls (started during WWII, but got stricter and stricter) to keep money from flowing out of the country. Unfortunately all this does is artificially keep the value of the currency high. In real terms, the costs of imports are increasing while their price (in SA) is staying the same (artificially), which causes high inflation (more money to buy the same amount of goods).

As soons as the new government started relaxing the exchange controls (1997 onwards) the Rand had to adjust to its true level. A number of controls are still in place (eg, the R750 000 max individual foreign direct investment), but they're being phased out slowly (IIRC Trevor increased the limit in the 2006 budget speech?).

What is wrong with you? Why must you be so condescending to people you don't know? Previous comments you made would suggest that you were not even directly affected by the political turmoils of this country, so why do you insist on stirring up people's emotions on these issues that it would appear you know very little about? You expect people like Oliver Tambo to receive everyones respect but fail to respect other great people? Your sarcasm you continuously apply with all the not so subtle racist innuendos is really nothing more than trolling.

Now that is non racial so Ill try my best at also not say anything racist ;)

Thanks Angelo and all the other africans for not atacking us evil whites during the "struggle" with ur assegaai's and animal skin or rather ur clothes back then. And before I forget I forgive you and all other africans for atacking the police and almost slaughtering them with the rock throwing at the defence force and police during apartheid I can imagine those police shields not being able to handle the rocks being thrown at it.

THANKS AS WELL for not honouring any other AFRICANS like Jan Smuts because his history is not well known in this country ? Or is there another reason maybe skin colour ? :D

Yes I called a white person an african  but egyptians are also white yet they are africans

Listen hear buddy, don't piss on our batteries now. You my friend are a racist and a very stupid and incompetent one at that.
What is racist about what I said ? you obviously have some deeply entrenched issues you need to deal with.
Saying something as stupid as "They continue to be the best Government the country has ever see" means that you have NO credit value behind ur name.
Rather than being abusive, can you oppose my statement with facts, which pre-94 SA Government was better than what we have now?
I think your one of those typical ANC followers that believes in a BLACK goverment no matter how mad and bad they are. You just never want to see a white person as a South African president.
You don't know me but you are already defining my political affiliation, this is not about the color of the Government but about the progress made since they came to power, you seem to be the racist by already bringing color into the equation. Do you miss uncle "Ou Krokodil" already, do you want a return to the "good old days" of minority privilledge? If all you want is a White President you can go live under Bush or Blair amongst the many options
Let me tell you something else you ignorant PIP....if it wasn't for the "OLD" Goverment then "YOUR" goverment wouldn't have anything to rename as this country was built my the DUTCH and the BRITISH, not Tswhane or any ZULU lord made this country what it is today.
You seem to harbour a lot of anger and bitterness at the fact that we are no longer under those oppressive regimes that you admire so much, You are right all this "mess" that you are always whining about in the media was brought about by your "DUTCH" and "BRITISH" so if you don't like how this Government is cleaning up the mess go ahead and do something about it, South Africans have bigger challenges to deal with than reaffirming bigots like you, accept that a democratically elected Government is in power as it should be or get out, I'm sure they are still a few White supremacist places for backward bigots like you, Orania?
Does your goverment look after "ALL" people? Hell no they can't even look after their own.
This transformation that makes you so bitter is exactly what looking after all people is about, it's in everbody's interest that the country transform
Hell, I even remember a time where the Rand was equal to the Pound and even better that the Dollar. The Exchange Rate basically shows how well the Goverment is running the country and trust me R7.23/$ and R14.00/Pound doesn't reflect what you are saying regarding "they are the best goverment".
Reminiscing about the "good old days" again, your Apartheid government was utter crap when it came to Economics and they weren't even looking after the whole population
Now please go and irritate some other brainwashed idiot like urself.
If i'm irritating you feel free to leave the forum, and unless you find a little Right Wing enclave in this diverse country you will always be irritated because my views are shared by the majority of the poeple in this country.
I LOVE the NEW SA but it's people like YOU that make this country look bad.
You've been whining about how much you miss the old South Africa all along but now you think writing in capitals will erase or hide your hipocrisy? Since dealing with change is such a hard thing for you I suggest you leave when you complete your Racist studies since the Country is moving forward and trying to rid itself of cancerous bigots like you.

Show us your "credit value" - Which government, according to Rendier, is the best that our country has ever seen?

@Angelo:
You made the statement about it being the best government, therefore the onus is on you to provide the facts, otherwise your point is discredited.
