If you send an email to Core ZaStore's Support Email address, orders@zastore.co.za you'll receive this reply:

Hi There,

Please note that I will be on xxxxxxxx leave from the 1st of
September 2009 to mid Jan 2010. For all queries, please contact the ZA
Store on 087 940 3000 or email either Miny or Caanita who will be able
to assist further:

Miny - sibekom@core.co.za
Caanita - reception@core.co.za

Thanks so much,
xxxxx xxxxxxx
ZA Store

I have removed the staffer's name but the rest of the email is genuine. Note that they do not auto-forward your email and you have to re-copy/paste the email to either Sibekom or Caanita.

How poor is that for customer service?

Not to mention that they don't even have a clickable link for their email address - it's a JPEG! They're afraid of spam. How arrogant!

Does anyone know an email address at apple we can send complaints to, I mean they are the SA authorised reseller and this is the sort of customer support they offer.

Unfortunately, Core are the main apple distributor in SA. Apple don't actually operate here themselves.

Your best bet is to speak to a supervisor/manager at Core re your complaints.

Just make sure you don't dispute the JPEG email story - I actually think that's a brilliant idea. If you mention it, they may think you're just some lazy (pee)035 ...just saying... :D

I only deal with the reseller side of things, the retail dept is separate so I don't have a contact for you.

Core is the only place (with which I've dealt) which hides their email, I've had dealings with embassies, boards, universities, fortune 500s, numerous stores and they're the first who've done that stupid trick. It is very lame. It tells me that they prefer to not have to install an anti-spam filter or have someone delete some viagra emails and would rather inconvenience their customers. It is very lame and as you see by the fact that the email to the poor staffer on leave does not automatically get appended for easily forwarding - you have to scratch in your Sent Mail folder to forward them email - also that email should have been forwarded to the next available person anyway. They're basically saying: "Ms X is on leave, are you sure your email was so important as to bother another one of our royal staffers?"

It's a basic F-YOU to the customer, after all I wouldn't be WASTING MY TIME sending them EMAIL in the first place if I didn't want feedback from them. Their time is more important than mine is what they're saying.

Of course I wouldn't put up with it but Apple is happy to let these clowns run the business for them in a funny way.
What sort of an establishment has one person go on leave for 4-5 months and force you to phone them or have to retype your email to someone else? Why not just paste one of the other emails on their website then? Why the run-around? Pretty lame excuse for a non-gray/official channel.

Core sucks.
ZAstore sucks.

Dude, you're pissed off - we get that.

But the facts are the facts. You can get as pissed off with Apple as you want, thats not gonna help anything. Apple don't operate here, nor do they care.

You're right - they are one of the few who do this email thing - and again, it's a brilliant idea. If you take offense that they're more interested in wasting your, the customers, time... then maybe you're the oversensitive one? I actually think I'm gonna do it myself from now on. I hope my clients don't think that I'm more interested in blah blabh blahb lahbalhablhablah.

Core is full of bull****!

We need more grey importers.

Yes - they have helped with iPod prices a little... I remember Core and Co had that grey importer smear campaign. I told them to look at their own actions and stop illegally spamming me :p
