^^ Interesting fact, Heroes got David Gahan into Depeche Mode when it was still known as Composition Of Sound.

'Heroes' is a cover of the Davie Bowie song of the same name recorded as a tribute to the late musician by Depeche Mode. This song has significance to the beginnings and formation of Depeche Mode. Prior to changing the group name to Depeche Mode, Composition Of Sound (comprising Martin Gore, Andrew Fletcher, and Vince Clarke) heard Dave Gahan singing the song at a rehearsal (1980-04-0x Rehearsal, Woodlands School, Basildon, Essex, England, UK) and were impressed with Gahan's performance, leading to his invitation to join the group. - source
