OsCommerce shipping nightmare...

Good Afternoon everyone

I've just set up my online beauty shop (OsCommerce) and I'm trying to load my shipping rates which are of course by area. Now I've discovered that you can only enter it by weight!!

I don't know what to do...the company that set up the template says that it's not possible to change it and I just have to go with a company that will quote my by weight instead. I can't do this because I have worked out such a good deal with my current courier company. Please can someone help me...

I live in Cape Town.

You can also please email me on info@skinessentials.co.za

Thanks

First off, any COMPANY that tells you something is impossible is LYING to you. They just don't want to do the work.

Unfortunately this does mean some customization, but I'm pretty sure oscommerce allows for straight up shipping per product instead of weight based, otherwise oscommerce sucks donkey balls

http://www.webapplicaxion.com/ are a bunch of retards by the looks of it. (If its not your company)

They're basically using frames to have your site view products/buy products on their own system (they probably couldn't figure out how to give your own oscommerce installation)

And half your site isn't working either. Requested URL could not be found etc

FYI, hostgator supports wordpress/oscommerce etc as well. I suggest perhaps spending your money with them instead of this company.

Thanks AcidRazor:)

www.skinessentials.co.za is my old site...not sure why it's still up?

Check out my new one: www.theskinboutique.co.za - I'm with iKabot. Do you think it will be a mission to load my courier prices to pull through per area code in SA?

Get your host of the old site to put a redirect to your new site, looks way better and it works :p

I don't think it will be a mission to do at all, but I haven't done it so can't say how quick it would be. I have done variations before, check out this google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=osco...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Just a quick tip, you might want to get rid of the flash and get a designer to redraw the logo for you. With some jquery (or any dom manipulation) the effect of the words can still be put in (and probably made clickable as well). The constant animation might be a distraction.

The logo will look awesome if you get it redrawn. I know a guy if you'd like me to give you the info? I'm finishing up a beauty place who's a wholesale retailer to the smaller guys that you might like. That way you can see what the designer has done. Check out another e-commerce site I've done: www.quickdubai.com

I was also a bit two minded about the flash animation with the logo...should have followed my gut. But the problem is I've already paid R650 to have it done. My cash flow is seriously suffering!! Do you think your guy would re-draw it for free??

Had a look at your site, and it looks awesome. Very neat. All I want is for my site to be finished so that I can finally start working. All this back and forth is driving me nuts!

Yes, it is possible - but needs custom programming. It's not overly complicated, but takes some time to implement.

Send me a PM, i'll put you in contact with someone who has done this on their own store!
