OT:Need help and info

I have 2 hard drives,one 30 gigs and the other an old 4gigg drive.
I connected the old one and formtatted it so now its clean and had no problems using it in xp. What i want to know is,Is it safe to use such an old drive with a Pentium 4 2.6 512 mb ddr ram and the 30 gig hard drive.Will the temp of my pc be affected?
Also can i run one of the linux distributions on a 4 gig drive?like Redhat or Lindows or Mandrake?

One more thingoes Xp service pack 2 work with Sentech software?

Should be perfectly safe, if somewhat slow. Using any drive will raise your chasis temp a bit. But not really more so because it's an old drive.

You can easily have Linux on a 4gb drive.

I was under the impression that Sentech doesn't work with any type of operating system.

Which is the easiest to use graphical linux? Mandrake is like 2 gigs????Lindows(Linspire)is small,so im gonna go with that and see what its like. Maybe redhat tho. Are they all free?

Avg Mandrake install is about 1.1Gb, though comes on 3 CD's.
RedHat until version 9 was free but is also 3 CD's, the new stuff you pay for. They did branch the free stuff to Fedora.
Never used lindows so I won't comment.
Mandrake is by far 100x easier than fedora/redhat.
SuSe gets a lot of good reviews as well.
If you are looking to learn, Mandrake offers a "Live CD" version which is 1 CD and runs straight from the CD (not install needed) which is an excellant place to start. Another option is to find someone in your area to get a copy from (I'm near Radiokop).

Debian is not too bad. Just download the first CD and install. The rest of the stuff you can get on demand over your broadband [] internet connection using debian's package management system. I've got Debian running as a firewall and it manages to keep my Sentech connection up without too many hassles. It's a lot more stable than using the windows dialler.

I installed XP SP2 final over my SP2 RC1 and it fcked up my pc. So much for beta being a problem. So I have reverted to SP2 RC1 again. I would suggest getting some incarnation of SP2 (it does work with Sentech) but make sure you install SP2 from scratch on a *clean* install.

Win xp sp 2 is the business. My pc boots up so much faster and all the features are pretty cool.

Actually to be realistic I havent noticed any differences and least of all I havent noticed any difference with sentech at all.

Seems like a 266mb collection of security patches.

I'm hanging off SP2 for a month or two to see what problems crop up... then I'll format and reinstall with a SP2 slipstreamed CD.
