Does news like this reach the "township" news papers at all?
I couldn't find any mention of it in the Sowetan.

It's about time the people who vote for these clowns get to know what's going on.

The ANC government has become what the National Party aspired to. They can do what they like, when they like and they have a majority vote to prove their legitimacy.

When corruption, nepotism and other unacceptable practices are brought out into the open then various enquiries take place and tick lists are ticked in order to prove that the law has not been broken. If none of this gets results, then the actions are compared with the worst actions of some regime which go towards justifying what has happened.

I think that we should remember that many regimes have also used the excuse that what they were doing was lawful.

As the regimes in question were the writers and enforcers of the laws, this would appear to be a prickly path towards the kind of country so many fought and died to get away from.

If South Africa is going to prevent itself from descending to that which we were and that which we see to the North of us, then this government needs to work fast and hard at living the spirit of Mandela, not the letter of the laws they have written.

To be expected if criminals run the country

typical of the uninformed opinions on this forum, where are there criminals running this government.

What is good about what has happened here - is that the extraordinary expenditure has been exposed - a sign of a transparent government

that a board of enquiry will be set up - a sign that the Government is determined to get rid of all forms of corruption

The Deputy President is not responsible for her transport arrangements - she can not be held to blame

She does not think of herself better than others - as proven by the fact that she offered to only use commercial flights from now on - this is however against the law ( according to Lekota ) and besides we can't have our Deputy President travelling with commercial airlines - what kind of impression would that make

The fact that in the new SA we see the corruption and how it is dealt with, is indicative of a transparent, democratic government something we should all be proud of

Strange how corruption is only dealt with when they are caught, and even then nobody has lost a job because of it. Suspended with full pay maybe, but not fired.

Whom of them are in jail? Yengeni's jail time can better described as a forced vacation, IMO.

The point is that they don't get what they deserve. Normal people would get jail time for the same thing.

Yengeni did get jail time, Mandela because of her age and contribution to society got a suspended sentence and Zuma is yet to be charged, let alone found guilty by a court of law - check the facts - similair kinds of sentences are handed down all the time for white collar criminals - depending on the mitigating and aggravating circumstances

It was a miscarriage of Justice that she never spent time for Stompie, but that's not what her suspended sentence was for

First - did someone force her onto the plane? She's the [-]minister[/-] official - she's responsible.

Why not the UK PM and royal family regularly use BA - in fact earlier this year the Blair's used Ryanair - it doesnt get much more basic that that.

Winnie Mandela orchestrated a murder, stole money, lied (a lot), inflamed political violence ("necklace the boers" etc). The legal process against here was drawn out so much, we all forget what exactly she was charged of or why she isn't in jail. I hope noone suggests the hand of God is intervening.

Yengeni hardly spent a month in jail. If you can call prison hospital jail. He was then out on weekend leave and broke his parole agreement. They then cleared him of any wrongdoing. He'll be out in early January. What kind of justice is that, considering his crimes. Again the hand of God helping(??).

The Speaker of parliament is dishonest. So is the Education Minister and her husband. The Dep President and her husband are also implicated. The list is endless and makes me dizzy trying to unravel it.

Nobody is accountable in this country.

*chuckle* I missed that, thanks bwana... It would make the impression that they're normal people, not celebrity superstars. Even celebrities flying around in private Jets pay for their own flights.
