Seriously, how do these idiots (both the ANC and ANCYL) think this is going to work out?
The ruling ANC won't want to lose the support of ANCYL members (voters), so they won't antagonise them too far.
But ANCYL is not going to back down on Julius Malema.
*Grabs some more popcorn*... this is gonna be interesting!
The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) said on Thursday its leaders were to remain in power and were unlikely to resign, regardless of the outcome of the disciplinary hearing.
League officials spoke at Luthuli House in central Johannesburg, giving feedback on the resolutions taken by its National Executive Committee (NEC).
Julius Malema was expected to attend but was not able to leave his African National Congress (ANC) hearing, in which he was due to testify.
ANCYL Deputy President Ronald Lamola said the youth league seemed convinced that the disciplinary action against its leadership is politically motivated.
“Some in the ANC believe that by removing certain members of the ANC Youth League they will successfully suppress and undermine ideological struggles of the youth league, particularly on the nationalisation of mines and expropriation of land without compensation.”
He said, if the party wanted to remove leaders it should have done so within the framework of the youth league.
Lemola went so far as to say that the framework of the youth league should have been convinced that Malema and the others needed to be axed.
But he denied the youth wing would ever break away from the ANC and said a court challenge is not an option.
