I've got a few Geniatech(Mygica) players hooked up in my place and my folks'. Love them, even the 510B plays the HD content smoothly on the right versions of XBMC ( needs hardware acceleration )

Nice. Our problem is we unknowingly bought the newer version of hardware so will have to wait until the firmware improves. We currently in discussions with developers and will add the Quad Core boxes to our site when happy with the interface and media playback.

Yeah must admit the launchers tend to be horrible,i set mine to use default android launcher and autostart xbmc. The fr0d0 debug or latest nightlies handle hardware acceleration for playback well

Thanks

I'll install the latest and see if it plays 1080p without freezing

I'm at the point where a dedicated media player is no longer needed... I have a dlna / Upnp compliant TV, I steam any media from my NAS server either directly (wired) or if I want I can send it to my TV via my phone using Twonkey...

Sounds like a neat setup. Are you able to build a media library and scrape the web for covers and fanart, and do you have any problems with unsupported codecs?

I used to do it all once upon a time... running XBMC with a micro PC, but nowadays I just delete what I've watched, So I dont bother with the scraping and media info. As for codecs, I have not had any issues yet... I doubt I will with my android phone, as for the TV, it updates its firmware occasionally (LG LeD, very happy with it). I do still have a Mede8er 500x2 in my lounge, but honestly dont use it much...

About the DroidTV MX Media Player with Android 4.2.2 and XBMC 12.1 - how easy is it to update it to XBMC 13 ?

Been using XBMC on Windows for years now, thinking of replacing my HTPC with a Droid but I want to have the same flexibility that I have now, such is upgrading to a new version straight from their site.

Yes but if I buy the recommended player will it auto update to 13?

Hi Rouxenator,

The DroidTV come pre-installed with an OTA application (over the air), which you can use to update XBMC. Unfortunately it will only update to a stable release.

Manually downloading and installing other XBMC versions works fine

If you wanted version 13 on the Droid, it's available here -> http://matricom.net/forum/index.php?topic=11518.0

Hi guys. I've been running openelec (xbmc) on an HP microserver for more than a year, and its amazing. I need to get my folks setup with something cheaper. Only requirement is XBMC.

I see groupon has a special for an android/xbmc media player called Android TV Gold Box with what looks like an HDD bay

Is this a good idea, or should I go with one of these as suggested?

Currently I run XBMC on a AMD E350 mini-ITX inside a Lian-LI PC-Q07 with 4TB HDD.
The Android media player sounds like a good replacement since it can also run uTorrent.

Yatse works on Gotham. Better than official imo

yea I saw it in the notes, I do have Yatse, just wondering about the official - I see it was last updated quite some time back...

Still need to load 13 on my server.
