Karpowership deal like shooting an ant with a shotgun — Outa

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) is suing the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) over the distribution licences it granted Karpowership, saying the potential deal is like "shooting an ant with a shotgun".

Outa highlighted several concerns over the deal, such as the contract's length, the cost of electricity produced by the ships, and the diminished impact it will have on load-shedding.

But, .... , but .... , it puts so much money in Uncle Gweesy and associates back pockets .... , it must happen.

They know this was coming, wont bother them going ahead with the deal.

Literally everyone knows this is about more theft and corruption. Nothing to do with solving the problem

Well with the ANC led government, it is probably not unthinkable that LS will still be a thing in 20 years, I mean load shedding first started in 07 / 08, look where we are now :(
But ye Karpowership is a rip off...

Everything they do is to steal first, solving the problem is secondary. This whole SoD is also to first get their grubby little paws on the money, if it actually helps to solve the problem then that is a bonus.

It is politics, Eskom is down avg 5000MW, opposition parties call for solar renewables, government says Kapowership and everyone loses their minds

Kapowership is 20 years, starting at double what we currently pay for electricity ... , good deal, I think not.

This is also the thinking behind SoE, easier to push for such things unapposed.

Anyways, such is da wei, Ramphosa got his re-election, time to pay the Piper with the big fat stomach..

The biggest flaw is that it doesn't produce enough power. Imagine how hard it would be to stop this deal if it was going to get us to a stable stage 2? People would just let the other flaws of the deal be.

The other aspect is that with renewables we get "assets" at the end of the term, whereas with the powerships they pack up and leave and we're left with these distribution networks to our harbours that are doing nothing.

Shouldn't the minister and all involved in this money-making and money-wasting deal be sued for all costs thusfar ?
