Hi folks

There might be a short website outage tonight…from Afrihost:

“Just a quick note to let you know that we are upgrading the web server on which your website is hosted. We are moving your web server into our secure vault on the IS backbone.

While this means that your website will be even safer it also unfortunately means that your website will be unavailable for 20 - 30 minutes sometime tomorrow evening (Thursday 31/03/05) after 20h00.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this might cause. Rest assured though that this will translate into an even better web hosting service for you into the future :)”

To the best of my knowledge they have always been with IS...maybe just a server change or something. I know they have powerful servers as it is, but I think we all agree that MyADSL deserves the latest and best :D

LOL @ "secure vault" - it sparked off an oddball thought that maybe Telkomonopoly had threatened to steal the MyADSL webserver or something (i.e. too much pressure exerted on them to reform)...:D.

Does "secure vault" literally mean a vault? - anyway it shows that Afrihost are looking after MyADSL as a precious resource :).

I was under the impression that Afrihost were (at some point) using UUNET...:confused:

Anyways it's all gr8 since RPM migrated MyADSL not only to vBulletin but also from the USA to ZA bandwidth :).
 
Hmmm just thought of something! RPM do you occasionally make offsite backups of the site? If not you should! I wouldn't put it past Telkom to arrange a set of circumstances that results in the site being "accidentally" nuked.

I would be happy to keep a backup on CD if you mail it to me :D

he should be very clued up about keeping copies of his website all over tha place!!!
