I can see the 30% maths coming out here lol
R17 * 8 hours * 22 days is not R12500

Edit : This guy obv doesnt keep up to date for his job. Minimum wage is now R23.19

Not sure why they need IT graduates for this stuff. It is managing bulk scanners. etc
If anything I saw what happened a few years ago when statssa did the census scanning.

he food prices have gone up. How will the private sector respect if the government is doing this,” he asked on the Facebook page where the vacancies were posted.
Another graduate, Ellijah Madwara, described the pay offer as ‘neoliberalism’. He said the government made graduates desperate so that they would jump at any opportunity that came their way. “Make them desperate, then give them crumbs... they will jump in joyfully," he commented.

No money left for a GTI debit order.

I think they are trying to level up the graduates, which is fair.

So how much are they earning ? I started out at 10k when I graduated. Its not the best but gets you started.

Graduates in possession of a master's degree will earn up to R14 250 gross monthly salary for a management position while those with diplomas will earn R5 000, according to the advertised posts.

ya, its not great but gives them a kick start and better than unemployment.

Just remember, not so long ago intern doctors used to take home R6k pm while doing 30 hour shifts

problem is this is the disease of corruption,
they see their Friends who have LESS skills earning more and think I have MORE skills, so I should earn More.

Corruption and Nepotism is an endless cycle.

they should take what they get, and say thank you very much , big baas.

1. Personal observation: Usually graduates start very low as a graduate knows fokkol. If they are good their salary will likely triple/quadruple in a year or two. It's the foot in the door. Most friends who embraced the opportunity are now earning well. Those that are too clever to earn R3k a month are still unemployed 10 years later.

2. Throwing masters graduates into management roles with no experience is a disaster waiting to happen. How can people be this blind? Is this why everything this ANC government touches collapses?

Because the government is f****** stupid. Critical IT project and they looking for more shortcuts. Love the fact that they want help graduates but , and I speak from experiance as we run intern programs, it takes a lot to get them up to speed, not to mention familair with standards , methodologies etc which last I looked were NOT taught at tertiary. Tertiary is meant to give you a base , its far from real world.

Didn't we all agree that 1 Million is hardly enough salary to survive these days. Have we changed the tune now ?
2019/2020 Tax year
Only 3.7% of registered individuals (282 619) earned more than 1 million from a taxable bracket perspective . Ie after deductables who are above the R70k pa.
That is about 2% of all registered tax payers ....

Bit disingenuous to say that you can hardly survive on R1 million py

We said R1 million is barely enough to survive.

Don’t mistakenly assume that we want these interns to survive.
You don't want these interns to survive? Are they not human beings like you & me ?

We also agreed that people have a choice. Have we changed that tune too?

Yes, but it’s the balance between caring for your fellow human or having more parking available at home affairs.

Choice to take the only job available at minimum wage or starve? Suppose a choice is a choice. To be fair, the jobs being offered here aren't graduate level, you could have had school kids do it, but this is being to employ the grads for a bit.
