Makro is getting ready for Amazon's launch in South Africa

Despite Makro-owner Massmart's billion-rand loss over the 26 weeks ended 26 June 2022, its online platforms have performed well, and it believes it will be prepared to compete with Amazon if it launches a marketplace in South Africa.

MyBroadband asked outgoing Massmart CEO Mitchell Slape for his thoughts on Amazon's impact through its potential marketplace launch in South Africa.

whaha whahahahahhahhah hahahahahahahh ... what a crock of crap .. Makro is fkn useless at ecomm ... useless .....

Makro is hopeless at delivery. Ordered a few products online two weeks ago. Zero communication and have no idea when it would arrive. Normal stuff that was in stock.

My experience was totally different. Ordered online on 15 June 2022, first item delivered on 17th (they tried delivery on the 16th, but since it was a public holiday I was not at work so I had to re-schedule). Second item delivered on the 20th.

You will get the item sometime between now and whenever some feels like it.. oh and it will be a surprise.

I order something from Makro (that was in stock) about a month ago, and it took 2 weeks for the status to change to "Store has the order" or something... and then silence for a few days and then magically it just arrived at my door.

Ready for what now? HTF can they expect to compete with Amazon using what you are greeted with below. Add to that that absoulte train wreck that is said branch trying to consolidate your order. Clown show!

They have nothing to fear except their own incompetence.

That is until Amazon decides to introduce their own supply chain products.
