What speeds do you guys get when downloading using limewire with a shaped account(saix)?

I just got my ADSL installed today:D :D , after 6 months of waiting by the way, and i'm getting quite decent speeds, 20KB-25KB, with a 1GB prepaid (shaped) webafrica account on a 384k line.

Could they've done away with port shaping? either way, i'm not complaining :D :D

ADSL n00bs, its quick for the first 3 months, then you start getting irritated that you can't sustain your maximum speeds :D lol

if you put your router in Bridge mode and forward your ports, you'll get 42KB/s download on a 384k line.

Forward ports from where? A router in bridged mode doesn't need port forwarding.

Would someone be so kind as to "tutorialize" how to put a router into bridge mode on the standard telkom modem. I have set up port forwarding via the Virtual Server (as noted on portforward.com), yet it doesn't seem to make any difference. Portforward.com also tells me I need a static IP. This is impossible (Thanks, Telkom.)

So what do we do?

I think the static IP portforward is referring to is your lan one - one that you set rather than DHCP. Whats the page on the site?
What exactly is bridge mode?
AFAIK its when you let your computer handle the pppoe (ADSL) connection - rather than letting your router do it. The IP address is assigned directly to your computer rather than to the router.

short tut.

click wan>submit>Virtual Circuit enabled>bridge enabled>IGMP>disabled>encapsulasion(what you normally use) bridged encapsulation doesn't work for me, only pppoe llc

Actually my router is in bridged mode as above, and I don't manually dial a connection, I find the speed to be better, it is a telscum router, but I still have to forward ports, if I don't uTorrent is useless ;)

Well it is telscum ;) If I've got bridged mode off, I get ppp connection drops etc. and the speed is definitely worse
