p990i pop3 email account

Maybe someone can help? I have been able previously to receive my emails from a pop3 account directly on my p990i, without doing the blackberry account thing. However, i lost my internet account settings which i created. I've been trying to get this right again, but cannot get the 'groups' and 'accounts' settings right. I am using vodacom data.

Any help?

Do you have the pop3 details? Ie the incoming and outgoing server names and the required authentication settings? If not, you should be able to get them from the provider.

Open messaging. On the menu go to Settings > Email accounts. Click New.

There you have to fill in an account name (can be anything), your name and email address, then on the Inbox and Outbox tabs fill in the incoming server and outgoing server addresses. The login details and smtp authentication options are crucial. If you need special authentication - like for gmail - go to the menu and select advanced - there you'll be able to set SSL/TLS connections and specify port numbers.

At the bottom of each of the Inbox and Outbox tabs there's a 'using group' field. Just set this to 'preferred group' or your normal 'Internet' group unless you've set up multiple groups (I've got separate groups for home and office wifi groups so as not to use up my data bundle...)
