Hi guys.

Without me doing a quick search and reading everything about these two, can anyone give me a reason to choose one over the other. I have no knowledge of either of these two, and a client phoned my now to get my opinion - they got a quote from both of them. It's for a site just outside Durbanville, Northern Suburbs, Cape Town.

Thanks!

I was with snowball in stellenbosch for a number of years. I had wireless, very good service. Speeds not that great all the time, but I guess that is just how wireless works. But as an SP they were great, no complaints.

Snowball. Used them when I stayed in the Cape, good service and rates.

Give Lucien Oosthuizen from Kawuleza a ring on 021 402 0168 or 082 811 3669. They do up to 50Mb wireless connections.

I had a client sign up with Paarl offline a few years back. Back then they were still only able to offer you a RFC1918 address and had a convoluted NAT setup on their firewall at head-office. Only one techie had more or less an idea what was going on. It was a mess. Stay away is all I can say.

I have no experience with Snowball. Only WISP we deal with is Amobia and have had excellent service from them.

PS. Did you take a look at their website recently? If you were there last in 2005, then you haven't missed much ;)

Both of them are complete garbage. Been with Paarlonline for close to a year, worked with them for almost 3 years. Worst Service imaginable, they just don't give a ****. If you have a support query, it almost always comes down to "If you don't like the service you are more than welcome to cancel it".

Snowball didn't even ****ing call me when I was gathering quotes after we moved to a stupid farm last year.

I'm sure three years down the line the OP has made a decision, but if others like you are on a stupid farm I'm sure they will appreciate the advice. Thanks :)

Hi Vastro,

I'm sorry to hear about the bad service you suffered at Snowball. Normally when someone makes an enquiry for service we log a site survey and a ticket number gets issued. Did you go this route? Do you recall whom you spoke to, or do you have the ticket number? I would really like to follow this up.

Just for interest sake, did you ever use Snowball's service in the end or was the pain just with pre-sales?

kind regards,

Ps. Who are you using now?

We used to stay on a farm, used Snowball, was able to surf and email but not download from torrents etc, not sure if that has changed... However before we moved off the farm, ADSL became available and we moved to that.
