Packet Loss

Good morning,

My problem is the following

If more than 1 person uses the line it goes crazy, packet loss and my ping fluctuates like mad. Even when no-one is on the net when I'm playing online it fluctuates but not as bad. I have tried 2 different routers, and 2 different ISP's, MWEB as my main and VOX as my alternate. I was told not to long ago that my 4mb can't handle someone on the net while I'm playing games which I find bull as I used to have no problems a while ago.

What could the issue be? I'm pretty sure my Telkom line needs to be fixed or replaced. Although they tell me everything is fine. Is there a way I can get my line replaced somehow? I will even pay for a new line, just so this problem stops, is there also another way to pin point where the issue lies?

Smaller capacity lines do have a problem when multiple users want to make use of the capacity at the same time. You need to tell the router what traffic takes what priority. This should improve the situation, on paper anyway

This does happen. If this is happening on a fibre line I'd say you have a prob. On ADSL, this does occur.
