Hi Guys..

We have recently launched PaintballZone.co.za, its a community website dedicated to paintball enthusiasts.

Its a first for South Africa and we are looking to get support from whoever we can!

We believe that Paintball should be seen as an official sport and by building this website we want to bring about the awareness for it.

PaintballZone supports Painbtball Events, Photo Galleries, Team Profiles, Forums, Video Galleries, Blogs, Field Profiles, PB Store profiles and allot more..

Players will be able to create profiles for themselves and show off their Markers (guns) and Gear. Teams will create a profile, list their members and events. The site will list all PB Fields and stores.. there is just so much!

What's Next:
We currently have BT Paintball getting involved and sponsoring some items for the website. We plan to get all the major name brands involved sponsoring prizes and lending their support.

I hope you dont find this as a website plug, as we are trying to do a good thing here :)

Please visit and signup at www.PaintballZone.co.za

Your Comments and Feedback most welcome.

Yes the paintball forum has been around for along time, its a great place that will always be used.
With PaintballZone we are looking to take it to the next level, incorporate the latest online systems. Social tools to interact with other fellow paintballers in a user friendly environment.

So the website has allot to offer, one main goal is Paintball Events which we will feel needs to be organised better..

Cool site Andrew. I registered and posted a couple of questions in the forum.

If you guys can get Speedball to be right up there and being played in every city and becomming a massive sport.... Then I'm all for it. We need more Speedball places FFS !

Hey Pitbull

The site is dedicated to Paintball!
Speedballers and Woodsballers are most welcome.

I know woodsballers that have converted to speedball and the other way round.. so we are all brothers :)

Speedball is quite popular already Pitbull (Einax and I used to play some league). I can PM you info as I do not want to hijack Andrewcs post.

Tks Andrew, will have a look at your site.

paintball is win :> I havent played in awhile though, charging people as they can't shoot and aim under pressure is win :) Although it hurts some times

www.pbaops.co.za is about to go live now.

A little info regarding PBAOPS:
For a while now, we have promised you a community add-on to the thriving PBA forum.

We wanted to design something simple, yet covering the key needs of paintballers being: what, who and where? To this end, we have designed PBAOps around players, teams, events and fields so as to enable YOU to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening in Paintball South Africa.

Our team has worked together to create a unique application, deisgned for paintballers by paintballers!

Players will be able to set up a profile for themselves. Teams will be managed by captains and you will be able to apply to join a team! Field owners will be able to promote their field by providing detailed information and pictures. For all events, there will be a calendar to show players what’s happening!

This website has been designed from the ground up with the assistance and input of players and field owners from all over South Africa. We thank each and every one of you for your support and patience. What this means, however, is that we may have some teething problems initially and we would appreciate if you can use the reporting function to let us know where the errors are.

Please go to: http://www.pbaops.co.za to find out more…

Hi Guys, we are aware that Paintball Africa launched their PBAops website.

We have chatted to them regarding the 2 sites sharing the same general idea, rather a bazaar coincidence. Both sites share the same goal tho, growing the sport of Paintball and thats where we left off.

I would like to find out from you guys what you think of both the websites?

Ive already signed up. I dig. Lets hope people start using it. I think the forum section and the event section should form the basis of the site. The forum section in my opinion is lacking a little.

You say the site is sponsored by BT. Im a BT battalion member. Any clue which shops in Joburg or PTA would honour the 10% discount?

The problem with PBA's forum is that it belongs to a commercial entity which has a corporate image to uphold, hence censorship is a high priority. I am not big on censorship. Sure, moderators should step in when things get out of hand, by all means, but not being allowed to post on certain topics is out.

As an example, I asked the guys at PBA which online shops they frequent, as we are limited with our shops in PE. My thread got deleted within 5 minutes as it "has the possibility of going against the forum rules". So what if people list other shops? Surely this would keep PBA in check with their prices? But PBA is the owner, so whatever they say, goes. :(

So while it is good for the sport, it is not good for the users trying to request/share information. Make no mistake, as a source of information PBA's forums are great, but it is fundamentally flawed in that it is owned by a commercial entity, and thus not truly "free" - if you get what I am saying.

The same happened with the forums at CarToday.com - it died because of censorship and over-moderation.

I joined PBZ today, but I will still frequent the PBA forums (until I am banned for posting this :))...

Also, just on a side note, is that the best software available for the forum? I noticed a couple of bugs on it within the first 10 minutes...

I see a couple of photos of me in the bush, doing ma' thing. :D
Thanks PB Zone for taking photos of the event at Camp Cuba, good to have some action photos for once.
