palm treo pro - edge connection only

was digging thru a collection of old phones the other day trying to find a particular phone number.

found it on a plam treo pro !

out of boredom was fiddling around with it.
i discovered it will only connect to internet on cell c using edge.

put mtn & vodacom cards in it, & connects to both of them using 3G or HSDPA.

have tried changing network & band settings manually without luck.

called cell c, the call centre dolly told me their network does not support the phone ????

anyone know of a "work around" ?
it runs windows mobile 6.1

CellC uses 900UMTS band for 3G - the ph have that band?
The others use 2100...maybe your answer

if one goes to manual setup there are 2 options:
1 "network type" :
a) auto
b) gsm
c) umts

2 "band" :
a) auto
b) gsm (900 + 1800) + umts (2100)
c) gsm (850 + 1900) + umts (850 + 1900)

i have tried every combination including manually selecting network operator.

Yes it has no 900 UMTS to give you 3G on CellC but can give you 2G/Edge from i think the GSM1800
