I've been considering a couple of Panasonic camcorders, but they don't seem to be that readily available. Everywhere its Canon and Sony. Cameraland had a couple of models and an online shop had several models, but both are charging ludicrous prices. So is Panasonic just not that common in South Africa and very expensive?

Thanks, but I already looked there. It's all Sony and Canon as far as I can see. sacamera have a Panasonic section, but there's nothing in it.

I was looking at a new camcorder today, Canon specifically. Then decided to look at the Panny's and found this thread! They definitely aren't as popular as Canon/Sony on the interwebz. Found a few on Kalahari and Cameraland, but not many options. Expansys also have a few.

Yeah, I had a Panasonic and the lens and picture quality was far better than the equivalent Canons, etc.
In Durban you can go to Govan Mani for a good deal, but haven't found the Cape Town equivalent yet...
