With all the different companies installing fibre, where can you actually see if your area is covered for fibre?

You have to go to the providers site and check their coverage map. Most data providers showcase coverage maps on their sites.

Well I don't want to get anybody's hopes up -- but there are some Telkom FTTH ducting on rolls next to Malmesbury Rd in Welgelegen 2. I do hope that they are starting in this area (and it is not just meant for Kleinbosch).

There are Telkom FTTH ducts being installed in Hennie Winterbach right below Panorama Mediclinic. Also definitely the Kleinbosch FTTH fiber deployment is about to start. There are more ducting delivered and placed next to other roads in Kleinbosch.

There is Telkom fibre going into the ground along Malmesbury Rd in Welgelegen 2 by the Shell garage. Not sure if it is back haul for Kleinbosch or whether parts of Welgelegen/Panorama is getting fibre soon.

Spoke to the driver collecting the cables and he said that the whole area including Welgelegen 3 is getting fibre. It is Telkom doing the installation. Their completion date is set for 15 March.

Yea I saw they've been installing in Kleinbosch and asked one of the workers there if Welgelegen 3 is getting and he said yes("whole area").

But seeing additional confirmation is just awesome.

Kensington Johannesburg , not sure if there is any Fibre action going on there?
I would assume with the great schools like Sacret Hearts , Jeppe Boys and Jeppe Girls, and even Queens and Kensington , there would be some opportunity

It is 6 months later (August) - Fibre has gone into the ground along Malmesbury Rd to Kleinbosch, and along Hennie Winterbach below Panorama Medi-Clinic, but is there any confirmation yet of non-business users in the area receiving a fibre connection @VindicatoR, @JohanD, @Axen, @LadyAth ?

I don't think Panorama will get fibre. Telkom pulled fibre to the "big white boxes" right across panorama. This allow most people in panorma to get speeds up to 40mbps VDSL.

No sign of fibre in Sonnendal. Even though the lines were improved (less SNR, etc), I am still capped at 4MB ADSL (and yes, I confirmed that). It sux.

Applied on 4 August - installation taking place tomorrow!
Seems things only became "active" on the 5th of August, unfortunately the digging they did at my place they didn't do it correctly and the telkom guys had to escalate it back to the contractors to come dig again. No Eta. :(

That's a 7 to 14 day wait if i remember correctly. I waited for contractors during my install after a first round technician visit.

The contractors just showed up at my door the one day I decided to take leave for a long weekend.

I'm based in Plattekloof now.

Luckily my installation could go ahead. Telkom tech mentioned that mine was the 4th job of the day. 3 prior to me could not go ahead do to further trenching that was required from fibre drain to the houses. Contractor has to be called out again for that. They have packed up in the area so no idea how long the wait will be...

Yep the trenching at my place wasn't done correctly... I knew I felt something off when I was checking out what they were doing thinking, "Hmm so how's it going to my house then", but decided it's not my place to ask/tell them otherwise... kicking myself now.

So I'm still waiting since the 8th and hopefully like @Axen mentioned it's a 7-14 day wait for me as well, else if longer I might just lose my mind now.
