Hey

There are many different forms of software you can use, but in most cases its impossible to prevent access to certain content, even with the most powerful of filters.

Example, you can have ZoneAlarm block access to pr0n content over web browser, but the IS News Server holds an INSANE amount of adult content which nothing I know of blocks.

Tricky situations.

squid ACL works for me

I configured my firewall to do transparent proxy and then use ACL in squid to only allow certain sites. She is only 5years old, so there is only so much that can/should/able to access. *All* else is blocked for her IP... so this should work until she can figure out how to change the IP address!

My plan is to expand this list as she grows/needs more access. At some stage I will remove the ACL completely... not sure when that will be!

With this software there is no database on your pc, but it is with the company who provides the software, so it should be constantly updated
