Does anyone have suggestions for some parental monitoring software?
(for parents to monitor children, not monitoring the parents :crylaugh: )

For cellphones, someone swears by "Screentime", although $40/year. But apparently good value for money.

I'm looking for something for PC though. In this regard, someone else mentioned "Canine", although they weren't too sure how good it still was.

Its K9 Software (Link) and a Mikrotik Router should help being able to control other devices.

Also, most routers now allow you to schedule Wifi Mac Address, stating when it can access the net and when it gets switched off.

Well, the router I've got now is the one that came with my Telkom LTE contract, so I don't really have too many options to change that. And the one they give really doesn't rate very highly, in my opinion anyway. But my contract is coming to an end soon, so something to consider for future.
I don't necessarily want to buy a hardware firewall though to sit between the router and my PC's. I want to be able to install something onto my child's PC that will allow me to monitor what websites get accessed, etc.
I was really wanting suggestions like K9 in order to compare to.
(Thanks for the correction for K9 and the router link.)

Look at ESET's parental control.

I'm not sure of which/all the OS/platforms it will run on... You should be able to find it on their site.

On andriod phone it seems to run well.

try covenant eyes. its an accountability system where you get a weekly report on what apps are installed, how long they were used for and what websites where visited.. Might be pricey though.

Transparent proxy and tell the kids they can go anywhere, but you will check where they are browsing.
Unless they are very young, in which case I would not allow them to online unsupervised.

Looks like this K9 software is client side. When you mentioned Mikrotik as a router, do you have a way in mind to make them work together? I'm looking for content filtering for our Mikrotik router...

No, I don't personally use the K9 software, my kids are too small now for that, so no need. I also do not use a Mikrotik router, no need for it, but I know it has the capability.
