They did paraphrase the increases, basically around 8% which is nearly double inflation. That's the point of the article, that it's unsustainable.

I see similar increases everywhere tbh. I think the more correct statement is the inflation rate is about half of what the actual increases that people are paying.

True that too. But private schooling is ridiculously high.

**** me. I think I better find a job in the city. Hell I can even go for slightly less if SO can earn that. Although my 2 horse town does have its perks. Rush hour traffic means 5 minutes, not hours. Maybe I luck out haha

Maybe its not the same for all but that is what my SO is at. We live close so traffic isn't a problem but property prices are. Salaries may be higher in the city but so is COL. I could never teach, especially for 20k. They are horrendously under paid.

We are seeing a lot of parents with kids in private trying to move their kids into decent ex model C schools. Part of the reason is that many of the private schools do not produce better results than some of the exceptional ex model C schools, but affordability is a big issue. We have a Curo school up the road charging about 6K per month where the ex model C school where we go is R1K per month and a similar quality school up the road is perhaps 1.5K per month. For that much money people start asking some prety fundamental questions around what value for money they get in private.

On the other hand some ex model C schools have hiked fees so high private can almost be cheaper. I think Randpark High is now at around 4K per month. The Spark schools are cheaper than that as are a few other private schools.
