I wonder if something similar may apply to Alzheimers, a dread disease not always appreciated for how agonizing it really is.

Probably. If Parkinson's then Alzheimers's too, likely.

Anyone who has lost a loved one to Alzheimer's knows how horrific it is. I'd rather we beat the neurodegenerative diseases before we beat cancer, to be honest.

From about a year ago my wife started to loose weight, shake and became unable to walk without my assistance. She shuffled about hunched over like Mohammed Ali did. I had to buy her a wheelchair to get to the hospital across the road.

The doc had her run tests and it was found she had a gut infection and was put on 2 different antibiotics for 2 months. She has now put on weight, no longer shuffles and can walk with me to the supermarket 1km away. The wheelchair is idle and used as a clothes hanger.

Amazing story Oopsie, so glad your wife's health has improved.

Fermented foods are gaining popularity because they improve gut health.

Well they say your gut microbes are like a phantom organ, without them you would be dead in days so they are very influential in human health.
