My lady and I went to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens this past weekend. Usually go for a picnic or just chill and do some reading etc.

I'm trying to find more Botanical Gardens or parks like this in and around jo'burg, can anyone recommend? Preferably with paid entrance (tends to keep the riff raff out) but will look at all. Obviously looking for parks that are well maintained and safe - hoping to go to a new park every weekend for the next 10 weeks - well that's what I wanted to try anyway.

Thanks...

Those are the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens :) They're quite something - amazing that something like that is tucked away here in jo'burg...

Also Emmerentia Dam is well maintained and has security guards and is very popular. I run through there quite often and never had any problems.

Problem here is Dogs and people not respecting other people by not using a leash on their dogs

And taking their dogs into the No dogs allowed area :(

It makes it difficult for the people that actually follow the rules, I'm afraid they will Ban dogs all together soon :(

Norscott and Kingfisher. One has the eagles. I see them from time to time and stop on the side of the road to admire the beasts. Wingspan is almost as wide as my car! Fourways area.

I know the Rose garden side they not allowed, and there are certain other areas where they are not allowed , just need to check the boards. - I Dont mind most dogs as long as they on a leash but you always get the owners that ruin it for others.

Once at a picnic and this dog with out the leash went over to some family and one of the kids gave the dog some meat the owner went ballistic swearing at the kids as her dog (though im sure its a rat) would choke and they not alowed to picnic etc the kids father told her off pointing at the sign showing no dogs of leash and picnic area etc and generaly to F off with her rat, any way this big dude with a bigger dog saw this, and went over (I swear i saw the kids dad *** in his pants) any way big dude swore the other dog owner telling her that its people like her that make it difficult to take their dogs out.

Sorry in advance for posting to such an old post...

Im looking for parks in Gauteng with those army type obstacle courses... monkey bars etc. I can remember them back in the day, but do not know if they still exist?
