Several parliamentary committees will descend on Eskom on Friday, as members engage with the embattled power utility’s board looking for answers and interventions to the ongoing load shedding crisis.
The meeting aims to cover a wide array of fundamental issues facing the company, including:
  • The current Energy Availability Factor;
  • Security of electricity supply;
  • The operational state of all power stations;
  • Governance of the company;
  • The processes towards the employment of a new CEO;
  • A possible solution to the current load shedding;
  • Sabotage and theft at power stations.
The meeting marks the second day of a two-day oversight mission by the government over the energy crisis. On Thursday (26 January), the relevant portfolio committees met with organised labour.

About time.

"The meeting aims"

Like this message if you are part of daily meetings that have no outcomes and just wastes your time.
Those meetings you could have done a lot of work, but stellenbosch serial pisser needed to feel important and needed to look like they know what they are doing.
Those meetings that after it is done you now have to work extra hours on time wasted and those who called the meeting then jet off on half day as they need to be somewhere else.

I'll go first, but no like for me

Descends like a lead balloon

Hopefully Eskom's catering budget is sufficient to cater for the bunch of whales that's about to be beached there

Oh there are plenty.

The parliament will have their meeting this Friday. Nothing will happen from it.

In Africa, the meeting is the job. A dead lightbulb is all that's required to tell you all you need to know about Eskom. Thereafter the previously disadvantaged can look in the mirror; put 2 and 2 together (impossible, I know) and there's your answer. From the comfort and safety of your own (dark) home.
