Link. Two arrests made related to Alph Lukau’s ‘resurrection’ church
Two suspects have been arrested and will be appearing in court on Wednesday in relation to a case involving Pastor Alph Lukau’s Alleluia International Ministries church in Johannesburg.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Kay Makhubela confirmed to The Citizen that suspects had been detained, but advised that further details should be pursued through the National Prosecuting Authority, who have taken over the case.
The suspects can only be identified once they have appeared in open court.
The church sprang to prominence in February when Lukau staged an alleged resurrection at his church.
Lukau referred to the “resurrectee” as Elliot, although the Zimbabwean man in question has also been called Brighton Moyo and allegedly passed away earlier this month in Zimbabwe under a different name.
Lukau and his lawyers have claimed that Elliot had been totally unknown to Lukau prior to the “miracle”.
Subsequent investigations saw numerous allegations of fraud and deception levelled against the church.
