Pathetic 'Service' (or lack thereof) from Telkom Mobile

On 2 May 2016, I went into the Telkom Mobile branch in Greenstone Mall, to sign up for their 'May Special' - a Huawei 10.1 tablet (10 inch screen), with 5 GB Telkom Mobile data & 500 Mb MTN roaming data, and a free 8GB MicroSD card.

This promotional advert (as indicated above) was also prominently displayed, on the looping advert block, on the flat-screen TV located behind the sales desk.

I therefore requested this offer from the salesperson, and filled in all the requisite paperwork (the only things they did NOT request in support thereof was a recent blood test & proof of owning a Municipal Free Library card).

This was despite the fact that I already had another long-term contract with Telkom Mobile, for over 4 years, for my 3G data bundle (10GB+10GB Internet 5 Promo) - which I notice has recently been increased from R 199 to R 299 a month.

After waiting for my application to be processed (about 30 mins), I was given a Huawei Tablet, a Telkom SIM card & a 8GB MicroSD card, which was then put into a packet for me.

I then left the store and returned home, and upon taking the items out of the packet, discovered that I had NOT been given the 'May Special' Huawei 10.1 Tablet bundle, as expected, but had been given the smaller SEVEN INCH model instead!

When I returned the following morning, to rectify this error on Telkom's part, I was then informed by their sales staff that they had NO STOCK IN HAND of the ten inch Huawei model.

I therefore cancelled this deal outright, and posted my grievance on the Telkom Mobile Facebook page - here follows the interaction I have received from them so far in the last two weeks:

I will NEVER shop for ANY Telkom product at the Greenstone mall store again - When I went in to exchange the 8.0 Huawei tablet for the CORRECT 10.1 model - I was informed that THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY STOCK AS YET - this is THREE days into your May Special promotion. Also, the in-store posters were still displaying the APRIL special promotions.
I therefore CANCELLED my order completely for the Huawei 10.1 tablet.

Also, why am I unable to order this 'May Special' ONLINE - cutting out the appalling' in-store experience that I I had to endure?

Also - STILL no feedback on the progress of my ONLINE application for the LTE router as yet

So - do you have ANY further news for me on the progress of my online order for the LTE router with 20GB + 20GB package as yet?

07/05/2016 - 21h11
Telkom:
Hi Ivan. We are currently liaising with the Sales team for feedback regarding your query and we will revert back to you. ^ TG

Still waiting for ANY response from your 'Sales team' regarding my online application for the 20GB+20GB LTE router special for R 399, after nearly TWO WEEKS without ANY feedback.

Telkom
Hi, your query is in-hand with a consultant and will advise as soon as possible. ^GE

Telkom:
Hi, we apologize for the delay. We have requested for further assistance from the Sales department. Feedback will follow. ^WL

So, in the last two weeks, the only response at all I have received from Telkom Mobile - despite me providing their 'Sales Team' with my contact details (more than once) - are these replies on Facebook Messenger - no emails or phone-calls / voice messages at all.

Little wonder then that ALL of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE's) find themselves in such precarious financial positions nowadays, if they are not even willing to make an effort to try & retain their loyal customers any more.

I am now tired of 'waiting for feedback' - here's what you will do - I will go to the Greenstone Mall store tomorrow morning at 09h00 - and Telkom WILL have the May Special AND my LTE router waiting for me to collect it - THAT's What Customer 'Service' means - and I DON'T expect to fill in ANY forms as they have my details from two weeks ago already!

As indicated in my last reply to you - the above scenario is the ONLY feedback I am willing to accept from Telkom - you have had TWO WEEKS to get your act together - it's time to now DELIVER and stop 'promising feedback' which NEVER materialises!.
