Paulshof - New 40 MBS Exchange coming

Spoke to a Telkom guy, who was reconnecting my lines, after Tree fell over.

The Paulshof exchange is being replaced by Fibre .. they have dug etc, right by the existing exchange, and they
now need to put the cabinet in place, assign ports etc.

He reckons, shud be done, by end Jan.

Nice Xmas present .. will be interesting to see, if I can get more than 1 mb/s downloads.

Noice... best way to get VDSL/Fibre is to destroy your lines

I've seen they've put up a nice new box on the corner of Stonehaven Rd and Brackenhill Rd, in the middle of the suburn. Sadly, I don't see that exchange included under the list of the the new VDSL exchanges.

I live in a complex just up the road from it, but I suspect our phone lines aren't connected to that exchange anyway. Distance to the exchange is always going to be the limiting factor on my 6Mb/s line until they move us over to something closer (does that even ever happen?)

How's your connection now, six months later?

Sorry, Its a long story, with no happy ending.

I left SA for UK, in April, and will only be back in SA, end August.

Am planning to leave Paulshof, end Dec, for an area with better connectivity .. so, really, have lost interest.

Also from Paulshof, been struggling with DSL connectivity, just about given up calling and demanding when that new MSAN is going live.... telkom is just plain disappointing....
