Pause for a moment and snap a quick pic - The Mobile Photography Thread

The Africa Aerospace and Defence show is on at the moment. The Chinese are there this time with their Y-20 strategic airlifter and an exhibition area. An interesting vehicle from Denel is the RG41 infantry fighting vehicle with a 105mm gun that can still carry 8 troops at a speed of 100km/hr.

Funny thing is as good as the Chinese are at copying things, they still can't make good quality copies of critical parts. The engines are old soviet Soloviev D-30's and their civilian airliner the Comac's are basically a carbon copy of the 717/MD-90 and early A320's which are old designs.
The Comac uses western supplied avionics from Bombardier and engines from GE/CFM. The airframe may fly, but it's still generations behind the western competition.... for now....

The MD-90 was more likely from Shanghai Aviation than Comac. They used to build them under license from McDonnell.

Stares at me, like a statue, non stop, for the 60 mins I have to spend on the stationary.
(Also that white fluff on the carpet is poplar flowers coming in via the braai chimney)
