Better collect it fast before half the middle class is on solar.

You had a first-half profit of R9.3 billion last year - top off your own tanks.
That got paid to the guavamint to pay for the firepool.

Paying higher electricity and higher taxes when the corruption is completely apparent, makes the electricity consumer and tax payer complicit in their corrupt criminal activities. We can no longer in good conscience support a criminal enterprise.

That's why I'm very motivated to leave this corpse of a country as soon as possible. I can't wait to be surrounded by civilized people again.

So, lets say we pay more to cover diesel cost... when/if the new/already old 4.5years overdue power stations come online, will price come down? :D

Pay more or have your power cut... eish.

That's what you call a catch 22 (Pay more is never good). Being cut off is not a good option either. So the only option is to keep paying those dollars..

Keep throwing money at it... they keep increasing prices but nothing changes, still get load shed etc

We could always call their bluff... everyone just says fine, **** it, cut the power... I'm sure the powers that be will realise before it happens that if they do, they'll all be unemployed and off the gravy train

How about this Brian,

I'll pay you less, but pay more for electricity whilst I get my house more and more off the grid.. Eventually I'll pay you nothing, and still have power.

...and on the other side of the coin, do a 100% loadshed voluntarily because you cannot afford electricity anymore... then have a little bit extra to get your solar thingummyjigs up every passing month...

Its not fair, but at least its something and its not stealing. Certain areas pay **** all, and still remain connected with government backing them. If they are cut, or even just load shed, they loot and burn everything around them. I bet if someone in delft didn't pay they'd be cut within the hour.

The poor that do pay for electricity don't abuse it
The guys with illegal connections use electric heaters , use oven as heater , boils water on stove instead of more efficient kettle , share thier power with neighbours etc
I don't dare to go buy an electric heater because of the increase in electric bill

I heard via some of my workshop staff, that the cheapest way to heat one's bed is to have a 2 plate electric stove cranked up under the bed. Illegal connection FTW
