MMSA no clue...

Yay, I am happy now... Well now that this wil cause a huge bump in the gaming industry and everyone will want to play its a matter of getting the neccissary servers to support all these players... I will definetly be playing with team infinity in the Counter-Strike:Source comp when registrations open again.

Seriously tho, 3 FPS and an MMO? 3 FPS and not 1 RTS?

AGASA run a BF2 tourney, but it's very poorly administered...

I'm all for a good solid league, but the origanization needs to be a bit better.

/me ducks for cover... :D

The first season of the AGASA league was to get all the systems implemented to make the league work and to make sure it is automated. The games for the 2007 season will be announced towards the end of the year. We just wanted to make sure the league runs well enough for us to expand it.

Colours was the first significant step taken to restructure the South African gaming community, but we still have a couple of surprises up our sleeves. We will call another press converence soon to reveal the other ground breaking initiatives to be launched by AGASA.

Welcome to the forums Dr Kervorkian !
Will be nice to see BF2 there.

How did you manage to convince those goverment officials that gaming can get protea status?

Thanks Spiderz and BlueCollar.

Simply put, colours was available from 1991 to be quite frank. But the sirens of wealth had its hand in the cookie jar. It is easier to have once off international cometitions and give a prize than to run a league for 7 months. We saw it differently and this year was the first of many new things to happen in the South African gaming community.

And never fear Blue - The games we support will be good. You will see a lot more from the AGASA team here, but please have alook at our posts on SGS and Prophecy forums as well.

We also introduced MMO - just because it is so big and it is different. It also opens doors to the South African gaming community outside the realm of conventionality.

Sigh...

I was sceptical about the BF2 season to start off with. But I did it nontheless. We had registrations open for a month. If i recall the numbers correctly...8 clans signed up. I think only 7 of them had the minimum amount of numbers.

The Rosters were created, Rules were created, and the League was underway. 2 weeks down the line, only 1 clan was attempting to play clan games. And both of their attempts were shot down by no answer , or not pitching for the game.

I then made a post cancelling the BF2 section of the League, Obviously the community did not want it. 2 weeks later no games were played and not one reply was made to my request for action on the BF2 scene. So I closed it down.

Administration had nothing to do with it.

As for other games. I already spoke to the Distributors about Warhammer: Mark of Chaos. If it fits the bill as a Well Balanced easy to play online game. We will include it into the League. Problems with other games have hindered us from launching another RTS into the League, mainly due to Online gaming with RTS games.

Kerv Said :

Just had to repeat that. So cool. :)

Like Kerv said :) We just had to get the league on its feet.

We will announce next years games close to the end of 2006. We will open our minds during that time, I am sure :)

Hi Gladiator

This was the first season where we had to get huge amounts of work done. Please remember we had to start somewhere. Those communities were instrumental in helping us to sort out all the small glitches. They were very supportive and without their patience we could not be in the position to launch the second phase of the league.

They played in the league for 7 months for no financial reward nor for colours. They just played for the greater good of gaming in South Africa. Now we are able to introduce more games and explain how the selection for colours will work. We will give you all that relevant news within the next 30 days.

To further clarify what was stated in the article.

MSSA's Computer Board of Control (or BOC) has the final decision as to the leagues run by the MSSA. All leagues that are run by MSSA are to be known as MSSA leagues whether on-line or as LAN and will be run and sanctioned by the Board of Control or its appointees. The Board of Control is constituted by registered players who are elected onto such Board annually and who willingly volunteer their services.

Any contribution made by MSSA would have involved collaboration from all of its members who are involved in computer gaming especially players who represent Game Guruz (or Game Masters) who are the most active voice on he BOC and who have been the driving force within MSSA for the accreditation of computer gaming.

It must be remembered that any participation in an official league will require the player to register to MSSA through a member club like Game Masters who is affiliated with MSSA.

It is important for players to know how Protea Colours are awarded. Protea colours are always awarded by the Protea Colours Board in the following manner (and this applies to all sports!):

1. the National Federation must obtain permission from SASCOC to participate in an international event,
2. the team is chosen in terms of such federations criteria,
3. the team that has been selected is then presented to SASCOC for their approval, and
4. should SASCOC approve all of the above the Protea Colours Board then awards colours to such players.

It is important to remember that Protea Colours are reserved exclusively for players who are selected to represent South Africa at an international event.

MSSA awards other national and provincial colours. The way in which colours are awarded are stated in the Constitution, and do change from time to time to reflect the changing needs of the membership.
