i just got myself an adapter from frontier for R185, slotted it into PCI, booted up XP to find that it's not being detected...

the "manual" that came with the adapter said XP would detect it and device manager shoudl show "Ricoh R/RL/RT/RC/5C475(II), R5C520 or compatible CardBus Controller" which it didn't - don't even have "PCMCIA adapters" as a subsection.

found nothing helpful on http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=32124 either...

i read somewhere about a compatibility issue with nvidia and ricoh, could it be that i need to get a different adapter?

has anyone used this adapter before???

I would say the same as well. Take it back and stiock it up their @rse.

Get one of these, Gigabyte 802.11g PCI WLAN Card. I've been using it for about a year now and it's never given me a minutes grief. I get an 80% signal through 2 walls and a window.
