PE Taxi protests - will they get your/our sympathy?

At about 16h30 I was travelling along Heugh road and while stopped in traffic at the lights ( where one turns left to the airport), a cavalcade of protesting taxis come up behind me - about 6 taxis with savages hanging out the open windows and doors creaming and shouting.
One of the savages ran from the taxi and thumped his fist on the boot of my car - very chuffed with himself he ran back to the taxi, where his fellow savages urged him to do it again, but this time they'd handed him a hammer - he rushed towards my car and thank "F" I had enough room to floor it and bypassed the cars in front of me and then turned right at the lights.

The taxis moved along Heugh road and not long after a load of cop vehicles headed that way - Kudos to their prompt response.

Taxi owners and operators, you're welcome to protest and gather attention for your cause, but you'll certainly not get any support with this kind of barbaric behaviour.

The local radio station was giving airtime to all parties concerned in the latest dispute, but the taxi operators turned down the opportunity - F'm.

I live in PE and wish all of them go broke. I have had a gun pointed at me from a taxi, they spat at my car and the one threw rocks at me.

I wish that the bus company can get the project done so we can get rid of these bastards.

If they want to act like animals then they can starve like animals.

I vote that ALL taxi's in South Africa be stopped. They have no respect for the laws of the road or for the people of this country. Yes it might be very uncomfortable for businesses and for the people that need transport but at the end we will have a better society because of it.

The laws of the road don't apply to them. I had a chat with a someone from the traffic dept last week and apparantly taxi's fines aren't ever followed up, I guess I knew this but to hear it from someone official..

Why don't they just burn their taxi's like they did with their busses? They were already stoning ambulances yesterday. Now what happens today when they need a ambulance? blame apartheid for no ambulances available?

Anyone know wtf is going on today? Now on the way to work I saw a big fire coming from the taxi rank with fire engines and heavily armed police(those big van things with guns) speeding around town. On one of the big highways there are 3 taxi's driving in formation blocking all 3 lanes at around 10kph holding up kilometers of traffic.

Even better, we should invent a sport called Taxi Hunting. The tools you need are:

1. Set of false number plates
2. Any firearm of your choosing, preferably an RPG Rocket Launcher but a 9mm will do the trick
3. A taxi filled with civilians

Now the aim of the sport is to drive on the busiest highway you can find, and shoot the front tyres out of any taxi you pass, preferably one thats doing over 100 km/h as this will score you an instant 10 points.

A taxi that rolls over more than 3 times will earn you an instant 25 points.

A taxi which rolls over and bursts into flames will earn you a whopping 50 points.

After accumulating a number of points, you can redeem them at any garage, thereby earning yourself a free Nando's meal, or a free tank of petrol if you've been especially generous with your taxi nuking.

Anyone else think this idea is just awesome sauce?
