South Africa's peak mobile speeds close to 1Gbps — MTN and Vodacom fight for top spot

South Africa's two biggest telecoms operators — MTN and Vodacom — are closing in on 1Gbps download speeds on their mobile networks.

That is according to Analytico's analysis of peak mobile network speed tests performed on Android mobile devices in 2022.

The modem inside the handheld will handle the carrier aggregation, depending on what it negotiated with the tower.

I've got an MTN and Telkom sim from Afrihost. Both regularly cap at 100mbps due to the s***** router they provide.

This article leaves one wondering what is left on the table. That said I'm pretty happy with 100mbps on LTE

Your speedtest results are flawed as someone pointed out in 2018 already from that post
Why not do your own tests where you drive around and test real world speeds and not test bench possibly flawed data from the speedtest results
You should also differentiate from LTEA and 5G

This is advanced tech and speeds like this on a handheld device is remarkable and some of the best in the world, but for a tech article you are not conveying it to your readers, your article sounds sad and disappointing when it should be a positive article praising these results
