watching the inauguration on sabc, they cut to show ads, a dunlop then pepsi ad, as they two year old pepsi ad is playing sis says "i bet you we will miss something important" and then they cut the pepsi ad to go back and show that we missed joe bidden taking his oath

Watched it on CNN and flipped through to SKY and BBC News now and then. Not ONE advert on any of them...and they could have made a killing just from one ad.

I switched to SABC briefly (I dunno, it's just something I do when there are dual simulcasts of one event across different stations) the quality of sound and picture was shyte!

I switched to the eTV broadcast for that very reason - ads. eTV only cut to the ads once the whole thing was done.
