My connection at the Northcliff tower is +/- 200ms.

that's slow and crap. Does anyone know what the Arin Whois database is? I connect through this....is it my tower? Anyway, that's why my pings are so slow... Also, can someone plz explain who Afrinic is?

What is AfriNIC?

AfriNIC is a non-governmental and not-for-profit membership based organisation responsible for the registration and distribution of Internet Number resources in Africa and the Indian Ocean region. AfriNIC works closely with the Internet community to help ensure responsible management of Internet address resources and reliable operation of the Internet.

Any one experiencing poor performance from the Olivedale tower, i live 2 KM away from it and get a terrible connection, receive a clearer connection from Randburg (which isn’t all that great either) i am currently highly disappointed in the performance of iBurt :-(

Yes, I stay 300 m away from Olivedale tower, direct LOS.

Last 3-4 days I was unable to play WoW at all with latency jumping between 4,000 to 15,000 ms. HTTP browsing also diminished.

I suspected that it was general international connectivity issue, but now that you mention it I suspect it might be the tower's fault.

Regards

I've noticed a serious increase in packet loss over the loss week or two. Is anybody else experiencing this? International, local is fine.

Well, tonight IStupid have serious problems...

I'm connected, then after a while the connection just stops. I don't get disconnected, although I must be technically. Why does this happen? All of a sudden nothing gets through...i've tried to see how if it will regain the connection, but to no avail.

IBust has no consistency. 2 nights ago i had an excellent connection in rain. Tonight...nothing...

I am getting exactly the same problem, I think it is the IS problems coming through onto Iburst. Very irratating though, the connection really does go down every 5 minutes!

Better get fixed soon..

Spoke to the helpdesk just now - apparently they're resetting the network in Cape Town at midnight (whatever that means) - and until then 1kbps bandwidth is about the most you can expect, which is just about what I'm getting here in Kenilworth.

I'm getting a little sick of this - went through this with Sentech and now iBurst. These internet companies who experimentally and amateurishly roll out networks at our expense should be heavily fined and their executives prosecuted. I am not paying R600 per month for a learning experience on their part.

Well if after midnight ie. tommorw the service doesnt improve I'll be calling them and complaining, we should all do it. They cant get used to a submissive user base. It has been terrible lately, probably my worst experience with Iburst, besides the downtime that happened twice each time for a few hours.

At least the problems are also being felt with ADSL users, makes me feel a bit better.

It is too late. The MyADSL forum has been pounded into inconsequence and users are already completely submissive. Where else in the world can a large number of broadband subscribers be hit with debit orders ranging from R20 000 to R 30 000 (last Friday) and not a peep from the user base?

Have you tried checking the verizon and IS websites. Sometimes it's a router down or something

i've checked the Verizon website and it has no important notices about a router down or anything that affects speed or connectivity. Still have to check IS, does iburst even use IS?
