Jake White was praised to no end...weren't people kicking up a storm when they heard he was leaving and tried to convince him to stay? I remember people on blogs only having good things to say about him...

I assume you know that my post was referring to PdV and you were merely commenting on the attitude towards Jake?

That was my point though. Jake seemed to be the blue eyed boy who could do no wrong, and PdV seems to be the exact opposite in a lot of people's eyes. That is what I am questioning?

That seems true yeah but the reason for that is probably because he's not that "eloquant" when addressing the media. Jake had a way of putting people at ease and PdV doesn't really inspire that same feeling. :D My opinion anyway

In any case, whether people doubt him or not, the results he's produced can't be argued so there's really no reason to question his ability as a coach now.

It has become blatantly obvious though that some people will just not give him the full credit he deserves. It is actually a rather bizarre situation as I have never before heard the previous coach, or the support coaching staff, being given so much credit when a team does well. It really does seem like a bit of a vendetta against PdV. I have no idea why...

deVil himself said in the post match interview something like "great players make a coach, a coach does not make great players." If someone else had said that you'd be throwing another tantrum right now but that is from deVil's own mouth.

:D :D More respect deserved by DeVil for knowing the facts and his own limitations.

This is PdV's team and NOT Jake's team.

Fullstop.

Shouting something loud enough doesn't necessarily make it true or make you right. Please would you quantify what you are saying to give some substance to your posts.

Good point. I think we all support and praise Div for what he has done in the Trinations. He still has plenty of time to prove himself better than White, and he has been given that chance. Lets see how it plays out.

PdV said the all blacks are the best team in the world, in the post match interview. Did anyone notice that ??:confused:

Massive blooper on his part.

LoL, yep I noticed. He meant they are the best opposition we can face but it is such a challenge for deVil to string a coherent sentence together :D

I was a sceptic but I'm glad De Villiers has proved me wrong. I just wish SARU would get the man a spokesman - that man does not belong behind a microphone.

I'm pretty sure even SARU would have his vocal cords removed if they could find legal grounds :D

Anyone notice how sensitive deVil is? When the interviewer mentioned SA's 'kicking game' he quickly pointed out that NZ had employed just as much of a kicking game. Clearly the Aussie press really got to him by calling bok rugby a boring kicking game - which explains last week's change in tactics which led to the defeat. He really shouldn't worry about what the international press write so long as the boks are winning.

Yet most of the anti-PdV brigade are quite happy to admit that Jake "made" this team. Is it not extremely humorous how people can change their point of view when it suits their argument? Or is that statement only valid if the coach happens to be PdV?

So not only is he a great coach but he is humble too....

This is exactly how I would interpret it too but to do so would be having to admit another huge positive in favour of PdV by the haters.

Do we? Ha ha, funny that when I read back through this thread I get no indication of the fact that he is getting praise for what he has done with this team! Everyone else is getting praise and he is just lucky is the just of what I pick up...

Again, I see it as being humble. Damned if he brags about us being the greatest, and damned if he is humble and gives credit to the opposition. Rugby is not all about IRB rankings.

You are comparing deVil's own words to the words of Jake White supporters (not Jake White's own words). Are you clinically insane?
