Shouting something loud enough doesn't necessarily make it true or make you right. Please would you quantify what you are saying to give some substance to your posts.

Is this Bok team employing the same pattern of play as that of the 2007 RWC team?

No.

Hence many of the players might still be there but they are playing to PdV's game plan and not that of JW.

Ergo, this is PdV's team.

Do we? Ha ha, funny that when I read back through this thread I get no indication of the fact that he is getting praise for what he has done with this team! Everyone else is getting praise and he is just lucky is the just of what I pick up...

Damn you're a whiny little ****! Honestly Lancelot, for someone who promotes Good News SA all you seem to be able to point out is the negativity.

Now people say that they support Div, something you've been pestering everybody about for the last month, and you turn around and say they don't. No pleasing some people.

You are comparing deVil's own words to the words of Jake White supporters (not Jake White's own words). Are you clinically insane?

There is much doubt. I don't think he actually comprehended what he read because his hero couldn't have sprouted such nonsense. It's all a bit Malemaesque to me :/

Youve' seen nothing yet, half the posts was deleted. Thanks go to Bwana for the rescue without shutting the thread down, but then some nice comments on the actual topic were also lost.

Yeah DeVil did score some brownie points with me today, that is fact, so i think much higher of him regards a good manager who's supporting his team and eaned their respect but hopefully he will grow in the best coach we ever had, if the politicians do not interfere with him now again!

I think he may be the best coach we have had dude.

Yea lance dude you are like a broken record at times damn, i have no problems with the way you argue but damn you harp on shyte for a long time :D.

I actually think last week we should have run more instead of kick, this week our tactics worked a charm well just about :D. Wow those all blacks are crazy, HTF do you pull yourself back from almost dead and then almost win the game!!!!!!! Amazing and wow did we put in some effort today!!!!!!!!!

This is arguably the greatest rugby team ever assembled!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such a pity we are losing a couple of players :(.

Frans steyn omg what a legend and morne was just amazing again not to mention the rest of team because wow what a team performance.

You may well note that I never argue with myself so clearly there is another person involved when this "broken record" is playing :) I myself have stated before that it is like hitting your head against the wall sometimes, so yeah we do often end up covering the same ground again and again and again.... :)

It's all good now though as I have a lot of "This user is on your Ignore List" posts appearing on these threads. Everything is rosy now! ;)

sadly when a team does well generally it is credited to the players, if the team is doing badly they fire the coach haha.

Guess that is just how sport goes :D.

Yeah, it can go that way but even coaches have to win the respect of the media and public.

Yea it seems PVD has to win every single match or he gets a bunch of crap talked about him, i mean look at the loss against the aussies, we had won 4 straight games and we lose one game and the media goes nuts :D

Now he is the hero but had that last cross kick stuck and the all blacks won he would be nailed again :D.

Some people have to win over the public for sure but others have to practically win every game ever played to do it.

Hasn't this been true of every Bok coach in history?

We're a pretty unforgiving nation.

I think the difference with PdV is that he was condemned and ridiculed from the moment he was appointed. Most people wrote him off straight away. Further to this even when he wins games he is written off as contributing very little by a lot of people.

Some may say it was his accent but that would be a little feeble as a reason to write off someone's coaching ability. Others will argue that it was his credentials but we have covered that in this thread already and he is more qualified at international level than any of the other coaches who were put forward. He also had similar experience to another well accepted coach and that is Jake White (actually I am being way to kind to Jake in saying that).

I have my views on why he was not accepted with open arms but it would probably be wrong of me to speculate... perhaps someone who was/is opposed could rather share with us why.

It was clear that PDV wasn't appointed clearly on merit and this was publically stated, not speculation. After the clear political interference with Luke Watson that preceded this its not surprising people were hostile.

Why should what happened with Luke have any bearing on our feelings regarding PdV? Or is there an aspect of that scenario that I am missing?

And then how does this explain the fact that people are still not willing to give him credit? Is it as a result of people still harbouring "anger" towards the way he was appointed?

Perhaps this is a perfect example of why BEE does work? He may not have got the job based on "merit" alone, although I still feel he had far more international experience than a lot of other coaches who were in the running, but as a result of his BEE appointment he has been able to show what he is capable of.

Everything that happened with Luke Watson involved Jake White, who was then replaced by PDV after winning the world cup, its not hard to make a connection. It was also a symptom of growing political interference which many people feel has no place in sport and PDV's appointment was a continuation of this.

I don't think it justifies BEE, he may have done well but there's no guarantee that others wouldn't have done better, its impossible to know either way. In any case its just one example, in a general sense it should be obvious that basing decisions on anything other than merit is not going to give you optimal results.

Syndyre, as requested you have given me the views of why someone would be opposed to PdVs appointment. I accept this but still cannot see how his performances have not now silenced his critics. He may have been a "political choice" but he has shown that he is more than capable.
