It only means something when it has brought about a positive change in the state of the ADSL product offering, but that is not going to happen short of somebody kidnapping and holding Sizwe's kids hostage.[}:)]

An online (poorly writen) petition is not a constructive way to aid the situation in my oppinion.

Besides, this was advertised here long ago. The input of 300 American kids with nothing better to do who could never possibly understand our regulations etc is unlikely to be accepted as by ICASA, Telkom, or even me who opposes them.

Telkom has committed R8,25 million over three years to Proudly South African (PSA), an organisation that has been established to create new jobs, increase demand for South African products and services and encourage companies to improve their quality and competitiveness.

The Cap is the tip of the iceburg, how can they justify the price, I am a small business just starting out, I drive a beetle and have adsl, the beetle gives me more milage and proud of the little bug I am. It is essential for me to be online 24/7 so I have to pay the price and just manage. But what about the others? Is Telkom really PROUD to be limiting the speed of new business growth in this country, I am disgusted with their service and attitude.
flying our gracious flag on their product, sould be skull & crossbones.

IMO, Proudly South African is a joke. Their 4 point set of criteria fails to address many issues like monopolistic competition and companies protected by legislation or state owned assets. The list of criteria does not cut it.
I emailed PSA with MyADSL's complaint. The complaint was basically filed away according to their agent. Stating that the complaint should go to the Competitions Board. Maybe he is right in this case, but Telkom's image is far from what I would feel comfortable with to call a PSA Company.

Might not be as effective, but what can you do? I must do something for the cause. Besides, if it gets in the newspapers the 50% of DSL users are unhappy, who knows what can happen?
