Petrol price blunder

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) has admitted it made a mistake in the announced adjustments to the petrol price for December.

On Monday, DMRE minister Gwede Mantashe said that unleaded 93 and 95 petrol would increase by 81 cents from midnight on Wednesday.

The department said it was the first time in the basic fuel price determination’s history that it made such an error.

Numbers are difficult. It might be a 30%-er error, but at least it was not a 30% error.

"In God we trust, in IT we test"? .... oh wait, it wasn't IT.

Think the error was appointing Mr. Coal in the first place.

If compared to the price in most regions around the world and the taxation levels. SA is till pretty cheap for petrol.
