Pfsense setup help needed

A couple of years ago I installed PfSense, but about a year ago it stopped working and obviously killed the network. I assumed that it was a network card that died, but just bypassed the box and ran the Network with some bandwidth restrictions via a TP-link ADSL router.

So I tried yesterday to get the pfsense box up and running again.

Seemed it wasn't the network cards at all, so I'm not sure why box stopped working. Anyway, installed a new version of the software (3.2.3) and couldn't get it going.

The main problem is that I'm not getting an IP on the WAN side and can't connect to the web GUI.

Both links seem to be up though.

The setup is as follow:

TP-link with a cable on the WAN/Lan port linked to pfsense box on Wan nic
Cable from TP-link Lan port to a switch and from switch to Lan nick on PfSense box.

Tp-Link had ISP details in, but I set it to Bridge mode with wireless activated and DHCP deactivated.

Router currently set to router/modem role. Not sure if that should be set as wireless router instead?

ADSL router was set to 192.168.1.1 and I have tried via the PfSense Setup to change the lan to 10.0.0.1/8 as I have read that the subnets might clash, but no luck.

Due to problems with my legs and feet, I can't sit very long in front of the pc so can't afford to sit there and struggle for hours.

I would appreciate if someone can guide me through the process of accessing the Webgui and getting a public IP.
I've tried via http and https.

If I'm reading this correctly you have a single TP-Link device which you are trying to use as both a ADSL bridge mode modem on the WAN side and as a WAP on the LAN side of the pfsense box?

If this is the case it won't work, you can use it for one of the two but not both.

Okay where did I go wrong Mickey?

Is it at the Mode option?
The default is ADSL Router mode.
I want PfSense to handle that though.

I will try to add a screenshot. Must it be set to Wireless router?
Obviously I will set it to Bridge mode as well, but that is on another screen.

Apologies if the screenshot is big. Did it on my cell and not sure how it will display.

Not much info to go on but physical layout should be as follows:

Internet -- Existing TP-Link -- LAN1 (pfsense box) LAN2 -- switch -- ? (wired PC or a new WAP)

Existing TP-Link would be set up as ADSL modem router in bridge mode, all other functions disabled (DHCP, wireless, firewall etc)

LAN1 = WAN port on pfsense box
LAN2 = Network port on pfsense box

Can't help with actual pfsense set up as I'm more into IPCop but there's plenty of advice on the pfsense forums.

Hope this helps :)

Afik that is what I had, except that wireless was handled by the adsl router. Will give it another go later this afternoon or tomorrow.

That's what I suspected :)

Note that you connect any of the LAN ports (not the WAN port) on the TP-Link to LAN1 on the pfsense box and you should be good to go.

Ok, that was the other thing. Port 1 (or is it 4) is labeled as Wan/Lan and I ran that to the Wan port on PfSense.

If it's not a dedicated WAN port you should be fine using it.
