Hi All

I've got a prescription for BP pills at a pharmacy close to our house (5 months left).

Can the prescription be transferred to another pharmacy in another town should I want to relocate? And how is this done?

TIA

I asked the doctor to organise it with the pharmacy, he had to re-write the prescription.

Actually I only called his secretary, she did the rest.

When I moved the pharmacy I moved to just got a fax from my original pharmacy with my prescription details. Think you might need an account at the new pharmacy or at the very least gives them the heads up.

Yes you can. The prescription is not tied to the pharmacy.

Do you still have the original? If so just hand it in at the new pharmacy who will just continue to issue the required as prescribed. If not then the pharmacy should have it, just ask for it back and take to new pharmacy.

Failing that just ask the doctor for a new script.

If it is a large chain (Dischem) you can go to any of their pharmacies.

AFAIK, you can ask the pharmacist at your current pharmacy for a script for the balance of the term.

This. You "own" the prescription - the pharmacy "stores" it for you as a matter of convenience.
