PHISHING SCAM - CAPITEC BANK

Capitec forumites , just be careful. There is an email going around suggesting users should be aware of a " payment notice " from Capitec bank.

Please circulate to those that have an account with Capitec.


I have since reported this via email to Capitec.

I did receive that yesterday. Before that I received a similar notice of payment from Nedbank. I don't bank with either instit.

And these notification of payment phising ones don't go to the spam folder, they get delivered like normal mail.

I get frequent phishing ones from Nedbank and Blapsa - ignore them as I'm with neither.

Ironic I just moved all my transactions to Capitec the last week and I got the mail yesterday - but I don't believe its profile targeting as I've had my Capitec account for over a year.

I have never been a client of or used anything related to Capitec, however I have over quite some time received a number of phishing emails obviously directed at their clients in an attempt to obtain their Username and Password for the Capitec website.

The most recent one tries to get them to go to http://insectfights.com/acus.php which then redirects to http://ismailsakar.com/ncbe/capitec.ins/cimt/capit.php

The part that is even more worrying is that I have a number of times attempted to email Capitec to warn them about the latest one I've received but every time the email is rejected. These are contact email addresses provided on their website, needless to say that makes me glad I'm not a client of Capitec.
