I'm trying to find out when my ADSL's gonna be installed. Man do I love listening to cheap hold music, getting told over and over that I need to be patient

10 minutes has to be a record !

Try calling at 4.25 pm - till 5 pm. Whichever calls are still in the queue at 5pm and 0000000001 seconds just dont get answered cos they all went home.

I ordered my line to be moved a month ago. I got a call from a telkom person telling me that my installation would happen today, 4th Sept.

Sooooooo, I decided to phone the local ADSL installations number 031 363 3493. That just kept ringing, so I phone 10219, and got told to phone 0800 357 357. I phoned them and got told that they've picked up my order, but that I've got to re-order to have my line installed. No amount of explaining could get this guy to understand that I had already ordered a line move a month ago. He told me that the installation could take another two months because they need to do line testing etc. What's another two months when I've already been waiting since the beginning of August?

Eventually he tells me to phone 10219 and quote my reference number. I do this, and get told that to find out about my installation, I must phone 0800 457 786 or 0800 375 375.

I'm now waiting for someone to answer on 080 457 786, and I've been holding for 7 mins so far.

I hate Telkom.

When I phone Telkom I usually manage to start and finish an episode of Scrubs whilst on hold.

I am not joking :(

10 mins? are you bragging?? :D

i normally put it on speaker phone while i'm holding for them, sometimes it take so long people has asked me why my radio play the same music over and over. i have to keep on telling them i'm actually on the phone so i cant come help with something as something rare may or may not happen and telkom might answer. hehe

Heh. They once answered one of my calls in under 1 minute. In fact, it was before the regularly scheduled music interrupting voice could say anything!
I was so surprised, that I didn't even speak back, because although I could hear it wasn't the repeating voice that keeps interrupting the lovely music, my brain just didn't register. I mean, out of 20 calls, of which the vast majority I held on for more than 20 minutes, and the remaining ones I held for more than 10 minutes, what were they thinking, answering that quickly? They trying to give their clients heart attacks or something?
It was only when it registered that the guy had already said "Hello?" three or four times that I actually answered him...

I once and only once did not even have to wait for the music so start. Dialled pushed the buttons and it rang once and I was through! The only problem was that the person was not helpful so my excitement did not last for long :D :D

Lukev, I phoned them in in april to tell them I'm moving house end of May, same neigbourhood, just the next street, and please would they move my line on that day. They say, no, I have to cancel my current line and re-apply.

Three and a half months later I still don't have a line. My installation date was 1 September - no word from Telkom yet....

I was on the phone yesterday whole afternoon to no avail. I am a lucky dialup customer at this moment  They cut my line in the process of upgrading. I also was one of the 4:30 callers waiting till 5:00 to get a message that the number only operates from 8 - 5
