Physically disciplining your child will soon be unlawful in South Africa

It's no longer a matter of opinion.
.

Sadly, this is true, but what is worse is how more and more things are becoming less and less a matter of fact and more of opinion.

Good luck with that argument in court. The arguments for and against have been heard, and the law against corporal punishment is a fact.
And LOL at a hiding not being violence or physical assault. Again, good luck at making the argument in court.
.
LMAO. I'm not going to court for anything.
Throwing someone with 100grams of polystyrene or a scatter cushion is assault as well. Bunch of pansies that take it as such.

If your kid thinks getting a hiding is encouraging violence, then you have bigger problems.

Point me to those arguments and show me the factual evidence and I will happily change my mind as I am always open to better ideas/ways to improve my life. As for me, my parents gave me hidings in the right scenario and conditions so I know it works. I have also had a couple of lashes in school for misbehaving. You can LOL all you want at physical violence and physical assault, there are clear and concise differences in intent between violence/assault and physical discipline.

Some people fail to see the difference. They believe physical discipline is an enraged uncontrolled act.

These people should probably not have children at all in my opinion because they themselves probably get frustrated and enraged with their kids in order to draw that similarity.

Yep, I was physically disciplined as a child but I never saw it as anything other than that, I never saw it as my parents taking their frustration out on me or similar.

If these conclusions and papers of experts in the field do not suffice, then 'happily change' your 'mind' is, in my opinion, not true.

Yeah, just take all the kids away from their parents and let the state raise them. That is obviously better.

Seems a bit of an overreaction in view of the many alternatives to corporal punishment. Just find another way. Others have and do.

No surprise. We South Africans just love a Big Government to run our lives. For decades we've gladly handed our kids over to the State to be "educated". This is just the next step in the road down to full expropriation.

What about adult spanking?

A consent form completed in triplicate, signed and notarised by involved parties, or maybe just a clearly visible disclaimer in 11 official languages at the door. But get legal advise on this to be sure.

If my views on this qualify me as a snowflake, then I'll proudly where the badge/T-Shirt.

@Sweevo is gonna have a field day about this. He's the author of the well known book "So You Raised a Snowflake".

Though I do believe this will raise a generation where there is no reasonable belief that there will be any consequences.

You can’t have both. But honestly, the biggest problem is that this sets a precedent for state meddling in family affairs. Not bigger issues like abuse, but simple discipline.

If the modern trend to record people in such situations prevails, you may have bigger problems. How quickly will an employer distance themselves from a person featured in a viral video breaking this law?
This will not go away, and I encourage each and every outraged one of you to consider the possible costs. Just find another way.
